I'm guessing he had a driveshaft made for between the trans and transfer. It still does not have a front driveshaft which would have to be longer than stock.

Whatever issues it has, I know Fred will disclose them. He put a cab and fenders on it from another gasser and got it running. I believe he got the boom powered up and spun it around. The boom was forward when he first bought it.

When I worked for VMMV he had, and may still have for sale now, a gasser bridge truck with a road ranger 10spd. It worked great and the transfer had to be moved back a few inches to make room for the trans.

RE: Re: Green Scrap on Ebay
I've known Fred for 20 years, straight up guy. I bought my first deuce from him. It took me months to rebuild the motor and get it going to find out the trans was bad. I called him up and he gave me a replacement out of a parts truck, for free. We've been friends...

My '73 M49A2 has that style. I think it was factory installed heat. I have never seen this style in a kit. You will probably need to get it off a junker.
Jeff
I have the whole thing....well most of it. I'm putting on a cab from Colemans which is taking care of most of my problems. I also have a parts truck if anyone has the need.

I'm building a M915 (Cat tranny) and was told to expect over 70mph out of it. Apparently the M915A1s with the Allison trans top out in the low to mid sixties. I was also trying for a M916 and thought they might be geared lower.

JD is correct that PS mag said some weeping and even some bubbles are not cause to change a head gasket, wait till the fire ring is sticking out. Sometimes the old style works....some times it doesn't. I only use the late style black gaskets. I bought the head set from Tom at CSI. I have never...
