Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

Today I went to a BBQ fundraising event that my rep, Lori Saine was holding. I took the LMTV, parked close to the entrance, and talked with a few representatives/senators, the current and former county sheriff, and a few others. Nobody had any idea this was going on, but hopefully they'll look...

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

I talked to our Colorado House rep at the 4th of July festival, and she had no idea that the function of the law had been reversed in committee. She said something like "Oh, that law was designed to protect MV owners" (which I assume refers to the original version), and was unaware that what...

Where can I find a better quality copy of this, than this tiny cell phone screenshot?

Colorado Bill SB19-054 RE: (Former) Military Vehicle Motor Vehicle Regulation

Wow, I didn't hear about that at all. I wonder what their sudden and severe beef was? Interesting that it excludes... "HISTORICAL MILITARY VEHICLE" MEANS A VEHICLE OF ANY SIZE OR WEIGHT THAT IS VALUED FOR HISTORICAL PURPOSES, THAT WAS MANUFACTURED FOR USE BY ANY NATION'S ARMED FORCES, AND THAT...

What have you done WITH your FMTV ( trips, Rescues etc) NOT: fixes, updates etc

Went and did some offroading. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31Dx0lc0bOE At 8:40 there is a yellow HMMWV that passes us. It's interesting because it's from an offroad tour place, seats 14, and is right hand drive. I don't know what company it's from - it has no markings.

    LMTV M1078 Tachometer

There are two models of alternator. The older one, with the N3030 voltage regulator, has the second terminal as a field sense, which isn't going to help drive a tach. The newer alternators have that terminal as an AC line, which will.

    LMTV M1078 Tachometer

I did finally do this by the way. The plug in the truck's wiring harness is located in a spot right in front of the heater, only accessible by taking all the bolts out of the heater and sliding it forward enough to reach down to the plug.

Synflex air line broke at middle pumpkin m1088- not surprised

So the paint is what is hardening the lines?

    front axle seal leak

That document already lists the seals and quantities for both front and rear axles in the chart, and also has the -24P manual diagrams for both. I think it should be valid for the intermediate axles too, since we're only talking about the hub/end seals not anything to do with the center section.

A0 High Speed Gears - Speedometer Dip Switch Adjustment

I got a chance to try these out today. I tried both of my proposals above, and neither was correct. The first setting (1010101100) showed about 2x actual (GPS) speed on the speedometer. The second setting (1011000001) was about 1.5x actual (GPS) speed displaying. So I started...

    front axle seal leak

The brake spring tool does help, and considering that they are under $10 are probably worth it. I cussed at the stupid thing for a half hour while trying to do it with pliers and a screwdriver, then just ran across the street to AutoZone and got the pliers, after which it took about 2 minutes.

    front axle seal leak

I made this document, based off one someone else posted that I felt needed more information to be truly complete. You can find the KIT7178's on eBay under $100, which is a good savings. The annual service kits also contain some of these seals, and can be found for good prices.

Synflex air line broke at middle pumpkin m1088- not surprised

Perhaps, but what's the cost difference to replace it with the better line? Personally, for the extra few bucks, it's worth it.

    Driveshafts

You shouldn't have to worry too much, they [supposedly] ALL got the upgrade, even if you have trouble seeing the "D" stamp. Then again it is the Army, so I'm sure there are a few trucks out there, but your chances of having one would be small still. I'm not sure about this part, but I think...

Does the 3116 have a CDR valve?

Is that a picture of your truck? That large breather hose on mine runs straight down the block (inside the frame rail), not out past the shock tower like that. It looks like yours is being crimped by the cab.

    Driveshafts

Also described in one of the reports is that the original front driveshaft design was double-cardan, which would have handled the angle much better. It said they experienced issues with the strength of it, and had to switch to the regular style. Two steps forward, one step back, I guess.

    Driveshafts

The engineering reports specifically say the engine tilt was a mandatory requirement so the engine could keep proper oil pressure while negotiating the required 60% grade. Even though it seems like having it tipped up helps the driveshaft angle, it actually hurts it because it's moving the...
