Well it looks like only Varyag & I are the only ones representing the Eastern portion of the Pacific North West (well except for Walt and the Montana Mountain Folk)
So if you are on the dry side of the PNW (WA, ID, Eastern OR) and are tempted to attend the PNW Rally, but do not want to drive it...
Bighurt,
Angus mentioned he was going to try and pickup your parts from me prior to freezy's trip.
Since I am attending the Napavine Rally in a couple weeks I suggested I just bring the parts back to the west side at that time and meet Angus around the rally and save him a trip.
I wanted to...
BigHurt and Feezy.....
Its me- quarkz---Scott tricked me into babysitting your goods.
I have your packages here in Kennewick. They are safe. Living in the the back of one of the tarped trucks. No hurries Bighurt.
When I need the space I will just drag into the back of another one.
These MVs...
OK,
Poor truck sat around for 3 months while I put in irrigation, planted seed and bought another Austin Champ. But being the show season I was really itching to get her operational.
So last night I crawled underneath and decided I would trace the air thru the system. Using the diagram...
I am getting ready to recover a M109 box from a deuce and a half.
I was going to pull the bed off of a deuce and then drive it 4 hours to the pickup location, load it on the deuce and the drive it 4 hours back.
Instead I am now considering using my 10K lb car hauler trailer and my pick-up truck...
Very Nice looking truck. What paint did you use? Looks similar to a Vietnam era green not the darker CARC green. Much like my 5 ton. Need to put a coat on that shinny steering wheel chain or at least wrap it in OD Duct tape.[thumbzup]
Thanx for posting the pictures.
:funny:
Dale, they have ACE in Afghanistan it just stands for Abdul's CARC Emporium instead being named for the Ace fighter pilots of World War I, who were able to overcome all odds.
Thanx OSO.
Got to work on the air system a little more.
I hooked up the shop's air compressor thru a glad hand to the rear emergency glad hand (REGH) on the M923.
Both primary and secondary air guages quickly got up to 120 psi and the brake pedal became hard and the parking brake button on the...
This box was on GSA near Burns Oregon.
I wanted it to replace parts on my SEORTL.
Bur someone wanted it way more than I did.
If you got it and want to part it let me know, my box was cannibalized by the RFD that turned it into a command center.
nf6x,
go to the TM's section for the 5 tons.
There is an application there that that has the 939's electrical and pneumatic system.
You can click thru it to follow the schematic, then you can click to get more info on a component, like how it operates or what it looks like. ( M939 P2P ) bottom...
I started to work on the air system today.
First I heated up the brass elbow on the rear emergency glad hand, removed it and reconfigured it so the valve would close the rear emergency line.
Made sure all the glad hand valves were closed, along with the four tank drain valves on the passenger...
Here you go.
A bit of an optical illusion, on the outer tread it is 3 inches and with the crown of the tire the smallest distance is 3/4".
Got my work out for the day.
The chain is definitely a 2 soldier task.
Luckily I am a big soldier.
CSM Davis,
Thank you for the info.
Maybe your suggestion and all the other air brake info in this thread will help the next un-lucky soul.
It wouldn't have done me much good as I wasn't able to jump start the M923 and get the engine running..
I will have to check that valve out this weekend...
Joe,
YOu are correct. the spacing is only a couple inches.
I have Hemtt chains that would have to be put on the steer axle and one of the drive axles of my M813A1.
But not on both the rear axles.
2 chains would definitely interfere. Which is good since I only have four chains, not six.
The...
Ray,
Thanx for the pictures.
That is an awesome motor pool you have there. [thumbzup][thumbzup]
Is your wrecker the model that also has the 5th wheel/tractor hitch on the rear?
Do you have any in progress projects going on?
