That is not why this thread was started. The question was asked if it was ok to try to remove the oil from them If there is no other choice....as in SHTF.
Well, for someone like me that tries to prepare for SHTF, having some mostly de-oiled brake shoes might be a good thing to keep around if none more are available...ever.
I know that there has been some discussion in the past on this and I never really found a solid answer....I have pulled off several brake shoes from both my deuces that are oily and i had several so i just replaced them. I know the common word is to not use them but some have said the oil can be...
When i first pulled this PTO off my the deuce i had first bought for parts....it was 100% trashed inside. Shop did a great job and only charged $190 for labor. I am really happy with it. I try to do most things myself but made the right decision to pay for this to get done.
Got all new seals in two of three axles this weekend. Came to a stop when the very last wheel cylinder was a little too rough to rebuild. Got my pto back from the shop. I was able to get all new bearings off Amazon, shop bead blasted all parts and it looks brand new. Was rusted real bad. A big...
Well, I found all of them on Amazon, (including the 94320) with exception of the M-2016. Have not been able to locate most anywhere. Maybe a call to Timken next week?
That be some good dang info!!! Going to try to make it to a computer this evening. No computer access for several days. Kinda hard to go through a TM on a phone. Thanks Sir.
I took my PTO to have it given a thumbs up by the local heavy duty drivetrain place since I had it off. The transmission had bad leaks at the boots/seals and sat for many years like that so inside the pto got really rusty. It still turned what seemed to me just fine but the drivetrain place said...
I just took off my PTO to replace the shaft seals. Got tired of having dead grass spots everywhere from it leaking. First question...Yep you guessed it, it is about shimming it. TM not much good on this as you all know and it really seems that the best bet is to do it by feel. I have gaskets...
Trying to figure out how or why that would make a difference. At least you are good to go. I am about to replace all of the seals on one of mine. Luckily I don't have to do the boots on this one.
