I have 275 gal of diesel in my house and so do alot of people around here. Its heating oil. Also i would not use house paint on anything metal. Rustoleum makes a really good paint that home depot sells. It rolls on really easy and leaves next to no brush strokes. Its about the same price as...
I have used that part number and hose in the last 4 months. I found it cheaper than the VW hose on amazon.com. i believe it was about $32 and enough to do about two mep802 generators. Thank you for that info daybreak, i got it from the 800 series parts/filters thread.
Thanks for the info guys. I have a 215hr set that i keep up on maintenance, former diesel mechanic. The fuel lines was the first thing i did, also have 20ft of the stuff laying around. I had a diode go bad on one other set but now have 9 spares.
So its really just return lines, s1 and s6...
I know the return lines are a problem but are the water pump and starter a common failure? Also what about the voltage regulator and control board relays? Those will take at least a week to get incase of a failure.
Guyfang is there normal problems with these becids the return lines?
Looking at making a spare parts box for my mep802. What are common failure items?
Fan belt and spare fuses come to mind. Spare fluids and filters is something i always have on hand.
I have a 802a. My water heater is a heat pump unit, well is 240v and electric stove. I can take a shower, and use a burner on the stove while both rooms are fully lit up. Your electric water heater is going to consume a huge amount of power. The A/C also could but you didnt state the size...
There is a huge wealth of info on that generator on this site and many people willing to help you. It may only take 5min a day for a few days and your unit could be up and running. Simple voltage checks behind the control pannel can tell you alot.
Its best to crack the fuel line at the injector, at the top of the head. Doing it this way keeps the hard line full of fuel. If your getting a good amount of pressurized fuel at the injector and its still not fireing its most likely the injector. Also make sure you have enough fuel in the tank.
If this traveling generator repair man dosnt have much military gen repair experience i would pass on him. These are quite complex machines and knowing how to read an electrical diagram is a must.
I would mess with it your self first, at least this way you will know your way around the machine...
The 24hr test was a sucess. Shut it down about 11am this morning. Felt the gen head and it was stone cold. Didnt loose one drop of oil or coolant. I used about 6.5gal, thats suprisingly slow at .27 gal hr. If i remember right no load is .21gal hr. I think i could lower my fuel useage by...
Its been a little over 8 hrs. Used the electric oven and washed a load of laundry at the same time. Never went over 50*. Fuel gauge reads just over 3/4. I went out and hooked up my 5gal diesel can to the aux fuel pump. It was inportant for me to test that also. As i can be at work for up to...
Well its going to rain for the next day here in New York. What a good day to test my newly aquired mep802a with 193 hrs. Il post my findings along the way.
I should state that i have 99 chicks under a brooder so the power going out for more than 5min isnt really an option.
Also i am load...
**** we almost never loose power but when we do... im going to do a 24hr test here in a few days so i know my fuel consumption. Im not going to even tell my lady.
I think that price is a bit high for 802 if thats what it was. I have been sitting on two 300hr units for 2 months that im asking...
