    M35 terminology

Differntial internals are inserted from the top (horizontal plane) on G-742 vehicles - conventional differentials go together from the vertical plane. Torque rod - when you throttle up a vehicle, the force that turns the wheel also tries to turn the axle in the opposite direction. On a typical...

    Vehicle Serial No. ????

Assuming this is an army vehicle, do you have the Army registration (hood/door number)? It should be 04M35769. Please let me know if this is correct. Best wishes, David Doyle

    GMC 'Workshop vehicle'

RE: GMC I believe that the bed is not of US manufacture. US built CCKW workshop trucks come in only two basic types that I am aware. One has a box body, similar to the M109 bed - several different interior configurations of this bed were produced. The other style was the engineer's contact...

Well, I also write occassionally about military aircraft - and this turned up about 50 pages deep in a google search for B-29 parts to photograph. DD

You a correct, that is the orientation of the website - but I am curious if anyone on SS knows the location of the warehouse of surplus shown on the site, and who owns it. Thanks, David

I was thinking fab up an entirely new body. There was a local guy that had a good looking sdkfz 222 armored car. When you touched it you realized it was plywood! The Germans had some good size four and six wheel transport trucks, depending on ones sheet metal or wood working skills.... DD

When this truck left the original manufacturer's shop (more than likely Reo or Studebaker) it was absolutely no sooner than 1949. Who may have cobbled what onto after that date at this point is anyone's guess. On the vertical surface of the frame rail between the axle housing and the fender...

    Influence MV Magazine

I think that you must have mistaken MV for some other magazine. Knowing the editor - and he is "the leadership" in its entirety, as well as some of the authors as I do :), I've not seen a Jeep fixation. If I've missed something, please let me know. Best wishes, David

    XM757 frozen drive shaft

My thought was similar to Chris's, but was thinking - first, grease it, a lot - if the splines have rusted in place, they will form a seal, and the incompressible grease will force the shafts apart (of course, any leak will defeat that). Next thought, remove the grease fitting and tap hole all...

    Influence MV Magazine

Hey guys - Want to see more about the type of vehicles you like in the mag? Go to: http://www.militaryvehiclesmagazine.com and mark the survey accordingly - couldn't hurt. Currently the Jeep guys lead the big truck guys two to one. Best wishes, David Doyle

    Do paper clips indicate lockers?

The truck shown is a Shop Equipment, Originizational Repair set. Its factory built this way. The origins of this design is the US Army Corps of Engineers. Like most Corps of Engineers Equipment it does not have a "M-number". The TM number will begin with a 5 instead of a 9. The truck is...

Early GM what year??40,41,42???more pic added!!

RE: use of captured equipment I'd suggest taking a look at the prices good GMC CCKW (which is what you have, assuming it is a 6x6) bring before deciding to modify it. A modified truck would be near worthless (mechanical bits tend to be cheap and abundant), while complete restorable trucks...

    new Deuce help with info,manufacturer??

RE: duece This truck most certainly is not a Diamond T, and most certainly was not built prior to 1949. Look for the VIN that is stamped in the frame rail, in most cases on the driver's side near the axle. (If the truck has a gasoline engine, the VIN may be stamped on the passenger's side.)...
