Re: RE: silicone brake fluid
The reason for the very thorough flush, per the army test reports, is that any DOT3 left in the system negates the "benefits" of DOT5.
The military changed over to silicone in about 1981-82, IIRC.

BEFORE YOU DRIVE THE TRUCK AGAIN - search this site for the info about the MC vent line mod. IIRC, the truck can suck the brake fluid into the air cleaner. Which means - you'll have another brake failure. As you've learned - there is not a back up system. There is no emergency brake - there...
Interesting situation - a few years ago I was sitting at home, and on the evening news came the word that there was flooding just don't the road from the house - and folks were being hauled out with boats.
I fired up a M35A2 and strolled on down (about a 10 minute ride from the house) - Sheriff...
Re: RE: Mounting Split Rims w/tires
I would presume one would first deflate the tire before loosening bolts? I've no first-hand experience with these.

RE: Weasel
If you need parts, give Mike Howard at Liberty Restorations a call - he has semi-loads of parts for these things - and is making track as well.
Congrats on your new toy!!!

Best bet on the retaining the pioneer tools - keep them in the shed, or in the cab, and strap them on only at the shows. Otherwise, they will, rust, rot, and walk. I got mine, original GI, from Memphis Equipment.
Hope this helps,
David
Re: RE: Anyone near Ft. Leonard Wood?
I am taking photos at the Chemical Corps Museum of gear used by US forces in Vietnam - this is for a book I am working on.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: 6 Wheels vs. 10 WheelsthereT
I don't have the dimensions in front of me at the moment, but basically the offset of the wheels originally used with the 11.00 - 20 tires of the M34 and M135 is different than the offset of the wheels used with the 9.00-20 tires of the...
Once you determine the weight and dimensions of this - I'll be at FLW the second week of September (in a Buiick) - that could get it as far as Memphis. Won't be heading back to VA until October though.
Just a thought.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: I need Info on batteries
Not to repeat a checklist found elsewhere on this site - but take a paper copy of the TM with you, and some DOT5 (not 5.1) brake fluid. The DRMO yard at Riley is not convenient to a parts store, or internet access. - I spent three days there trying...
I'm not interested in buying it - but there is a truck there I'd like someone to take a look at for research purposes.
Please drop me a note.
Thanks,
David Doyle
Close, the M35A1 is powered by the Continental LDS-427. The "A1, A2, etc, are very specific to the prefix (M35, M49, M54) etc - with no relationship whatsoever between the series.
Best wishes,
David Doyle
PS - I am 700 miles from home, so this is from memory (so don't bet the farm on this)...
The Iola show is going full-tilt, and as usual, every one is super nice and having a great time. I only got to walk about half the vendors yesterday, but already found more that I want than I can afford (or haul back home).
Ya'll stop by stall V-23 and say hello.
Best wishes,
David Doyle
I've seen at least one civy pump that will bolt on - but it is too short and this requires the fan blades to be notched to clear the air compressor. Looks pretty bad.
