M35A3 tires all flat on one side of the truck?

What Gringeltaube said. There have been enough reports of the M35A3 tires blowing after re-inflation, often while driving, to consider this a serious issue if the truck has been sitting on one or more deflated tires for a long time. I would have zero confidence in these tires, other than for...

https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?42567-Master-Cylinder-Vent-Line-vs-Breather Maybe post #9 helps with the mysterious copper line. Your engine bay needs a good washing. Then run the truck and check for leaks. It is hard to tell when there are years of gunk in there. I would plan on...

Intermittent power loss - fuel starvation?

Update: - primary and secondary filter changed. Both had gunk in them. - in-tank fuel hose changed. The in-tank hose looked ok but was in fact shedding its outer layer. The hardened plastic shreds went through the in-tank pump and ended up in the primary filter. The filter was likely clogging...

    Dead Pilot's M36a2 Build

Have you ever checked your trunnion bearings? Jack rear of the truck up by the frame until the leaf springs are completely relaxed, remove trunnion cap and check bushing/bearing. Good time to grease it after modding the cap with a grease zerk for easier greasing. There is a bit of disagreement...

    1956 M135 2-stroke Detroit Diesel conversion

    WHAT?? I CAN'T HEAR YOU! I think it's a 4-53? That is 212 ci (3.5 l) and it makes 140 hp and a neck-snapping 282 ft-lbs of torque.

    Slowest deuce restoration ever

I looked but did not see them! Not to worry, they are a marginal design anyway. Use 1/4-20 stainless steel flat head hex bolts, 3 inches (better 3 1/2 inches) long, a self locking nut and two stainless steel washers. You can drill out the hole to 5/16 and use thicker bolts and you can also...

    1956 M135 2-stroke Detroit Diesel conversion

I am not into the older Deuces but this one looks like fun and a worthy project to complete. I am not sure what the rules are, so I do not want to post the link to the ad. But if one were to look at kijiji.ca and search for "2 stroke detroit diesel" in the region of "Ontario" one would come...

Bought a deuce - the journey begins

Wheels chocked, engine running, sprayed three cans of brake cleaner up into the bell housing and tried not to be lathered by the mess that came back out of the fording hole. No clutch slippage after, so I think I got away with it. That was two years ago.

Open that vent flap on the side of the cab, unhook the spring so you can get your hand inside and feel downwards. I bet it is full of debris in there. Stir loose with screwdriver and shopvac the stuff out, then poke the drain holes open from below. It is a ****t* piece of engineering that causes...

Bought a deuce - the journey begins

When I refilled my tranny after the OD upgrade, I used the specified amount of gear oil and everything was fine.....until the first 2 hour trip at highway speed. The whole right side of the truck was coated in oil. I frantically searched for the leak; this did not at all look ok! I thought the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

This is an interesting picture. It is a German HANOMAG 18t half track, version 9 (with rear mounted crane, for tank maintenance units. 6t or 10t version, I cannot tell). It is depicted in front of a fire hall somewhere in Germany which makes me wonder if this unit saw post-war service as a wrecker.

Intermittent power loss - fuel starvation?

10-4. Fuel hose for in tank pump on order. Filters on order. HH re-torqued as per Floridianson (no more moistness in this area). Will change these items and report back.

Intermittent power loss - fuel starvation?

It's an LDS, I installed the 12 point upgraded rod bolts, stock max RPM is 2800 and mine has the governor turned DOWN to allow 2400 RPM max. If it still throws a rod, I can't help it.

Intermittent power loss - fuel starvation?

Took it out for a drive to reproduce the problem. It takes at least a half hour, until everything is good and hot, to start seeing the problem. Until then, running at full power (up to 2400 RPM, boost up to 12psi) is fine. Here is a video. You can hear the boost vanish at 0:08. It is...

Intermittent power loss - fuel starvation?

I have a spin on secondary filter with its own base and did not retain the original filter base. I don't think I have this valve but will check. Sent from my SM-G950W using Tapatalk

Intermittent power loss - fuel starvation?

LDS engine starts as soon as you touch the button Ran fine all year, she is being driven a lot (when not down for upgrades or maintenance) Yesterday, four hour trail ride, no hiccups On the way home, in 5th at about 1700 rpm it suddenly felt as if I lifted my foot off the throttle...
