    Field find Deuce question

You could remove the short propeller shaft between the rear axles so that they can turn independently. That might help in determining which chunk needs help. Ideally, you can lift up the rear end, but reinstalling the half shafts (drive axles) and repeating your "tug test" will work, too...

I think that is exactly what he did.

    Field find Deuce question

My five cents: Could be the transmission stuck in two gears...then the rear wheels would do what you describe. Easy to check seeing you already have the rear half shafts pulled....can you grab the transmission output yoke and turn the transmission output shaft/drive shafts by hand? Might be as...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Put everything back together after Waterloo power steering install and some sheet metal repairs and painting. All I can say is...WOW. It drives like a completely different truck. The biggest differences I noticed are the truck feels "smaller"; probably because it steers so effortlessly the truck...

VALSPAR 383 Green (federal standard 34094) - also for tinting bedliner

I needed HERCULINER tinted 383 Green. The company uses a VALSPAR automotive 72 paint paint mixer (Valspar refinish system). They had no idea how to mix 383 green with that. I obtained the instructions from the VALSPAR refinish color lab and here they are, in case they are useful to somebody! The...

    M35A3 W/OW ....winch installation's ?

Rusty implied this in his answer - it is a hydraulically driven winch, so the process of engaging, disengaging, and controlling is more sure footed than in the purely mechanical setup on an A2. What does that mean? Have you ever been busy winching in a A2 and trying to make sure you are in "LOW"...

Welcome! As for the engine, they all have a variant of the LDT-465 multifuel engine. A screaming "C" turbo or a more efficient "D" turbo are personal preferences rather than real-world differences. Do not confuse a "C" or "D" on the engine's data plate (e.g. LDT-465-1C) with the type of turbo...

    Replacing Fuel Tank/Lines & Filters

Put the filters on and once you have everything together, switch on the in tank pump. Let it run for a solid two minutes or so. This will pump fuel all the way to the injection pump and fill all the filters. Then hit the start button. It should fire up nicely.

    Engine knocking LDS-456

Hm. Thoughts that come to mind: - 194g is a LOT of aluminum to lose. Aluminum weighs about 40g per tblsp. Does your new piston have longer piston skirts? - weigh an undamaged piston (to eliminate the guess work around how much material might be missing); scratch that, weigh them all! How...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

I love my LDS. An LDS with the 5th gear overdrive is an unbeatable combination. I am always surprised, still, how well it pulls on grades where it ought to slow down!

    Engine knocking LDS-456

I can fix the first one: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?31284-Engine Not too much useful info in that one. There is a long thread on the multifuel differences. I remember that, in summary, the differences are in the IP/HH and the valve train, specifically the intake valve rocker...

    Engine knocking LDS-456

From the diagram labels it appears that the pistons without the oil passage were used in production engines and the (later) model pistons with oil passage as replacements. This would suggest that they are interchangeable. The bottom of the piston is still oil cooled via the jet. Weighing...

    Valence's 1972 M35A2

Here is the instructions: https://www.jatonkam35s.com/M105TMS/TB9-2300-280-30.PDF Basically, they go into the left and right bottom corners of all the "fields" in the bed sides. You need to relocate the reflectors and cargo cover tie-downs. There should be a blank metal template (just the metal...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Finally finished the Waterloo Industries power steering install. While any project on this truck spirals into some sort of production, this one was particularly frustrating. From horrible quality tools (out of the box) over power drills (yes, 2) dying a smoky fiery death to a missing bracket and...

    M35a2 idling funny

What does she idle at? Should be above 750, many are at 800-850 rpm.
