The relays are for the 24v trailer lamps. They serve no purpose unless you were towing a 24v trailer either from the 5th wheel or pintle. I take that back, a couple of relays worked the blackout light cutouts for the lights and horn.
I think the issue is not very many of us here have any fmtv experience. Even guys who may have driven or do drive them in active duty, don't work on them beyond basics. I wish I had an answer for you. One more reason I stick to the old trucks. A lot less for me to figure out when things go...
Sounds like the transmission isn't sitting still in neutral with the transfer in neutral. I always put the transfer into neutral the same time I am engaging the pto. Sometimes I have to put the transmissiin into gear for a second to get the transfer to go to neutral. Then I have to wait a min or...
Powdered or liquid extinguishers are a no no. Severe engine damage would result. Any inert gas introduced in volume into the intake will kill the engine.
The moral of the story is it might not be a bad idea to have a CO2 extinguisher on board and handy at all times. Air leaks or no air leaks, a quick shot of that into the intake will shut it down no matter how it is running away.
Great progress! I love seeing a project come together.
A tip for the hose- when I have that happen, I soften the hose up by boiling a pot of water, then setting the end of the hose in it till it softens up, then it will slip over what you need it to. Also when it cools it will be a nice tight...
check the valve covers. When the valves loosened they actually were denting the covers. Maybe yours poked some holes in it. With that lever assembly not in all the way, it wouldn't make contact with the fuel control block and would have caused your runaway. Almost the same thing that happened...
If the fuel control linkage to the shut off valve came loose, it would do exactly what happened. How do I know? It happened to a friends deuce. I replaced the head on his truck but the little clip holding the rod to the linkage to the shut off came loose or I didn't get it on just right, and the...
My MIL always bugs me for one of those signs...
I can't wait to hear her run and see her move for the first time under her own power again. Love it when vehicles come back to life.
Probably means all 250 powered trucks will get engines pulled. Maybe any remaining deuces too.
Pulling wild guesses out of my rear is fun!!! No wonder so many people do it.... sigh.
One sold recently on CL near here. They were asking $8500 for it and it wasn't in great shape, maybe a 7 out of 10. Seeing as similar condition m35 trucks are going for $2500-4000 here, that is 2-3 times the price for the dump. Your mileage may vary.
Like all things it depends on what someone...
