M1102 from Barstow to Sacramento. Logistic help!

You might be able to get a temporary movement permit once you get the SF97, but the way the CA DMV operates these days, they will probably want to mail it to you & you'll get it in the mail about 6 months after. But go to your local DMV office anyway, maybe they will have good news for you. If...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

Something else interesting I discovered was that when I disconnected the brake hose from the T-fitting on the axle, LOTS of BFS came out of the hose, and there was also plenty present inside each wheel cylinder & brake line on the axle. Since the MC was bone dry when I got it, that kind of...

M1102 from Barstow to Sacramento. Logistic help!

In california you don't need DTRL (daytime running lights) with trailers; you just need brake lights & turn signals during the day. This comes from a CHP trooper I know. Of course, without license plates on the trailer, you can still be stopped & ticketed for an unregistered trailer....

    Successful Deuce Recovery

I'm real tempted to follow that advice in this case, but I HAVE to consider the track record of my luck...it WILL become an issue when I'm in the worst possible place at the worst possible time. As much as I'm tempted at this point to just say "F**k it" and move on to the next task, I know...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

Thank you for the prompt reply! Looks like with your thoughts, as well as a PM from Ron, I'll be pulling the replacement axle off to break it down. I'll put both axles on a stand so I can take the best, serviceable parts from both to make into one (along with any necessary repair parts)...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

Got the dogbones & suspension bits all rebolted & buttoned up this morning. So I broke out the drain pan and drained the gear oil out of the axle housing, when I saw these 3 metal pieces sticking to the magnetic drain plug. I should have done this before installing the axle...now what? Is...

    deuce hyd power steering

Hank, I venture to say that with your 8" lift kit, your 53" tires should clear that box & arm...they're tucked in pretty impressively.

    Run Away

And I thought we were going to get to see a Monty Python clip featuring an "Easter Bunny" of sorts.... RUN AWAY!!!

    Re-painting 1998 M101A3

Pressure-washed mine to knock the crud off, then used Rustoleum Camoflage in spray cans to respray the camo job. So far, so good! No issues at all.

    Successful Deuce Recovery

Joe, I'm interested in the lower stone guard until I get a winch installed...I wonder what it would cost to ship your winch out my way... Got an early start today, as I wanted to make some good progress before I had to knock off early for a friend's birthday dinner. I disconnected the brake...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

Thanks again Joe! Now I just need to fab up a lower guard to fit beneath yours, while I search for a winch to install....

    Successful Deuce Recovery

I removed the entire frame for the soft top and wire-wheeled everything down to bare metal; it was all pretty heavily rusted to begin with. I sprayed everything with Rust Reformer, and then painted with Rustoleum Sand spray paint. I also wire-wheeled the windshield fold-down frame and...

    Successful Deuce Recovery

Thanks Hundy!! Here are some more photos showing some of the parts you gave me such great deals on! I removed the passenger side door, since it had no window nor regulator, not even a crank handle...and replaced it with with a door I bought from Hundy, complete with EVERYTHING, even the...

    M105A2 Recovery

I know it was a pain in the rear & in your back to package those up & ship them; my UPS driver tries to avoid my house now! I just wanted you to know that it was all worth it! Thanks again!

    Successful Deuce Recovery

FINALLY found some time to start doing some work on this Deuce to make her roadworthy, as I'd like to get her registered soon & start driving her. I removed the cab soft top initially to re-sew the back clear window zipper, as the threads had dry-rotted and I wanted to seal the cab up against...

    M105A2 Recovery

Finally got to get the first M105 conversion near completion. M16TY was kind enough to sell me some used splash shields off of a truck he was scrapping, and boxed them up nicely to ship to me. I took one of the splash shields, did some measuring, and found that I could quarter it and create...

    Need SS members' advice

Thanks fellas! It's been bagged and put back behind the driver's seat where I found it. Now back to fixing all the little stuff that is preventing me from driving it. Removed the soft top cab cover, and it darn near crumbled away into dust when I did. I used a tent repair kit on all the...
