    Question about French 404s

Additionally - the Swiss front bumper does not have cutouts for blackout lights, they used a single large B/O light mounted on a plate bolted to the inside top of the drivers side of the bumper. Swiss front turn/marker light lenses are straight white, rather than the white/amber combo...

    soft straight line camo

If you had described what you were going to do, I would likely have raised an eyebrow at you and given you the buffalo look, but seeing it, it actually looks pretty darn cool! Don't forget to post a picture once the masking is off. ;) The variation suggested earlier, with the brown and black...

Silly me...I thought I would remove the lug nuts with a breaker bar and cheater pipe.

And, of course, remember the left hand thread/right hand thread lugs. I've seen tire folks battle mightily trying to remove a "frozen" lug nut that they were busily tightening on the "righty-loosy" side of the truck. ;) Cheers

Holden MTO20 Engineering Equipment Trailer (EET) 10 ton pintle trailer

I keep picturing in my mind how pretty that trailer would look behind my M813, with the V100 on it. Sigh.... Looking forward to progress reports. Cheers

    Army CJ5

Judging by that yellow-green paint that the military likes to paint airfield fire trucks, and the stuff in the bed, perhaps that might be a clue to its former job? And, yes, "off the shelf" civvy vehicles do get assigned registration numbers, though they tend to be quite different from the...

Working On The M561 Gama Goat

Yes, but I don't think it is going to be started and driven onto the trailer come recovery time. Besides, the NC trip was fun! (Of course, it was more fun for me, since I wasn't paying the bills, but...) Cheers

40th MVPA CONVENTION Topeka, Kansas - June 25-27, 2015, Coming??

We completely missed that the arena spaces existed for at least the first day last time. Hopefully they'll do a better job of letting folks (who haven't been there before) know this time around. In general, I thought the folks who put on the last show there did a great job, looking forward to...

    Sweptline 1960-1971 W200 Military/Government Dodge W200's ?

You know your Binders! I can do that with 60-70s Chevies, but not these. And I wouldn't trust what a lot of folks label their stuff (ie the '66 Travelall) on the internet. I "borrowed" that picture as a decent one that looked like the Travelall I remembered from NASCC and bear no...

I like that butt ugly nose! But I like M35A3s too, so .... :) Cheers

    Sweptline 1960-1971 W200 Military/Government Dodge W200's ?

Here is the IHC from the same book. There are also Fords and Chevys. One of the sweetest IHCs I have seen was the mid-'60s Traveall 4x4 used at NAS Corpus Christi well into the '80s as the "Follow-Me" truck, even though yellow isn't my favourite vehicle colour. It was very similar to the one...

    Sweptline 1960-1971 W200 Military/Government Dodge W200's ?

In Bart Vanderveen's 1972 edition of the Observer's Military Vehicles Directory (which I bought as a child back then!), on page336, I found the entry in the attached photo. The photo is one I took of the book page, but should be clear enough to see the info. Sorry, that's about as high tech as...

My new to me Gama Goat

Around here, you'll probably be okay. I pulled the heater core out of the M813 because it was leaking, it is sitting on a corner of my bench waiting for me to fix it. I haven't missed it, and it was removed in 2005! The 813 does vent a whole lot more engine heat into the cab than a topless...

San Antonio, TX Monthly MV get together!!

I had thunk they was the same event... :) But we have a car show next week. The excuse has been forced upon me! When I wasn't being all presidential, I didn't feel pressure to attend all the club events. Now... Cheers...R

Holden MTO20 Engineering Equipment Trailer (EET) 10 ton pintle trailer

I'm jealous, those are very cool trailers! Here are some pictures taken in my son's motor pool (authorized, and cleared for sharing) a few years ago. Hopefully some of the details might be useful to you. The one thing I would worry about is that tail-light wiring hanging out on the back, seems...

    Sweptline 1960-1971 W200 Military/Government Dodge W200's ?

I recall that Dodge of my uncle's riding like a buckboard, it had some great springs! The red on his looked like it had been put on by a 5-year old with a sponge. You could see the Marine lettering on the doors under the red paint. Wish I could have gotten it from him, I'd still have it. :(...

    Sweptline 1960-1971 W200 Military/Government Dodge W200's ?

There was a thread the other day on Ford trucks in the military. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?136429-Ford-mv-s The military used, and still uses, off the shelf civilian vehicles. They weren't military vehicles, per se, so would not have had M numbers, but would have been...

GPW Shipping Crate Stencils- does anyone have a clear picture?

Jay, thanks for posting the results of your search. A lot of questions get asked on here, but without the answer making it into the thread for future reference. Cheers

?? Transporter, Model 741-ISO. Anyone know about them?

Well, I'm glad it was cheap. This was one of my "pig in a poke" uninspected purchases, and the first one that didn't really pan out. On close inspection, it was obvious that this trailer had been neglected for some time prior to auction. The various fittings to attach to the container were...
