Since I consider cooking a chore rather than entertaining, I don't know why I find the field kitchens so interesting (maybe because there is little military gear I don't find interesting), but they are cool.
A couple of the guys in our local club have MKT's that get set up at a few of our...
Particularly when the fuel is caustic and will dissolve your body parts if it comes in contact with you! ME-163 pilots didn't just have to worry about crashing or blowing up...
Cheers
I can happily say I have had the honour.
I met John at a time of great personal distress, while burying a good man. Not in John's own professional status, but as one honouring our fallen man. He is every bit the fine gentleman you suspect him of being. I am well pleased to have shaken his...
I used to fly with a senior pilot (on CH-53D's) who liked to do serious nose-down takeoffs when the helo was empty. I don't recall the pitch angle, I was usually sucked into my seat and hanging on, looking out through the overhead windows to see forward, or straight down at the ground. It was...
What he said!
Add to that no wind, which would be really nice for a change. Particularly with the not-so-great controls the early helos had.
Hannah got very badly injured at one point in a crash, recovered to fly again.
Cheers
Louie, I understand! I thought "When I retire, I'll have so much time to do stuff, I'll get all my projects done!". Now, I wonder how I ever had time to work. :)
My kits are waiting patiently for me to get through my ever-changing stack of round tuits, one of which is to get a designated...
How about these -
The built models are not mine, I nicked them off the net a while back.
One problem I see with the kit is the moulded in weld seam on the nose sides (indicated by arrow in pic 3), that shouldn't be there, it is all one plate with a bend.
Cheers
For me, the 13'9" nose height came from the height of the 5th wheel from the ground. The nose of my M129A4 (with the other type frame than yours) now sits at 13'3" on the M931A2 with the Fontaine 5th wheel. The TSS trailer is about the same.
I didn't clarify in my previous post- 14' is max...
That is the majority of what you will get.
I had one bunch call wanting to rent my V100. Then they said they wanted to vis-mod it to look like an M1117.
"How would you do that?" says I.
Says they, "We'd just weld some brackets to the turret and stuff, you know, nothing permanent".
"Click"...
That HobbyBoss kit is really nice, and looks like it builds into an accurate representation on the outside at least. I'm afraid the interior would have misguided me some, Louie, as it is loosely based on the V150. :)
I was reading on a modeling forum where one contributor was talking of...
We did get our copies of that movie, its.......entertaining. :)
Parts of it are on Youtube, The Walk with Darkness.
Sigh......Stop Loss
At first I declined to do the movie, as I really didn't like their story. But then we talked money...
We did the US stuff, not the "Iraq" bit...
A buddy of mine hauled his stock M146 (9.00x20 tires) behind his M931A2. The rear tires on the tractor would sometimes catch on the trailer landing gear feet, so he trimmed the inside corners of the pads. Still a bit too close for my taste though (and his. He hauls it with his M915 now)...
In a pinch, an M1009 will also move a V100 with little effort, but I recommend the speed be kept low, since stopping would be an issue!
Obviously, I drive with a little less abandon than the driver in the video, mainly because I would like to drive my M1009 again.
Cheers
PS - No, I didn't...
Several years ago, I made good money doing a movie in San Antonio, but that was for Paramount.
I'm too embarrassed to name the movie, what a piece of garbage!!
We had a contract, they paid the insurance, housing and meals, and they paid industry rates for the vehicles, as well as extra for me...
One of my favourite 'what-ifs', a doubled P-38 Lightning.
An exercise in fun, not practicality, its not likely to have been successful (insufficient increase in power for the weight, insufficient vertical stabilizer to make up for the increase in side area, etc. etc.).
Cheers
