Jet-A and kerosene are the same product jet-a has a few more tests to meet such as flash point and water content. Both in the raw form are better for your gen set than ulsd ultra low sulfur diesel. in the raw form the ulsd has additives added to it at the bulk plant to meet the required...
If you read the old army drivers manual they state when backing a trailer hold your steering wheel at the bottom when you have to turn or correct move the wheel in the direction you want the back of the trailer to go, than follow the trailer around. doing it this way takes the thinking backwards...
first off Don't get a harbor freight cherry picker. we used wreckers in Iraq. it makes a good justification for it when your wife asks why you bought it. Secondly there are 2 6.2 l engines one has a 2 piece rear main like your military model the other one has a full circle rear main and...
The number 1 common failure with the db-2 pump is the quil shaft breaks insid ethe pump because something jams up. the shaft is relieved in a section so the shaft will break rather than taking out the timing gears. the #2problem is wear in the transfer pump ring, this could be a #1 problem if...
I have a mp 210 dual voltage Lincoln. had I not borrowed one from a buddy you could have never convinced me to buy one. on 240 volts it will weld up to 5/16 steel with 035 solid with gas and when burning 7018 wth the inverter technology the stick welds are un equaled. For what I use it for which...
I think a 7.3 idi would be a dog in a duce and I'm no fan of the power joke. your best performance and economy would come from a 12 valve cummins which you can get an sae bell housing for which means you can keep the transmission. I like the cornbinder and cat options too, but for economy and...
those trucks all lurch when put into gear, I would check timing its simple, just bar the engine over till the timing pin drops in, than remove the inspection window on the pump and see if the little flat is centered in the window. using thicker off spec fuel could have spun the gear on the shaft...
to convert from the 3l80 to a 4l80e is really involved you need a wiring harness dual voltage alternator transmission with torque converter drive shafts and a new transfer case plus the 4 speed shift selector. I did one of these in Iraq we had full kits at the time to upgrade to the theater...
the gauges have nonreplicable led's in them, if all gauges are out look at the bottom of the dash to the right of the steering column there is a dimmer for the panel lights
The answer to this question is yes it can be done it is a bit more work to do it on the side, I have done it so I know it can be done we wont discuss the language used in trying to line up all the splines.
Looking at those parts you might be better off with a good used transmission, Allison parts are expensive if you find a broken drum it will be big bucks those parts are more than just stripped splines I see snap rings and big metal parts.
If the torque converter isn't locking up you are going to make a lot of heat too. the other thing that will fry the oil in those transmissions would be a lot of staying stopped in gear, I remember several times in korea where I was in grid lock and had to put the trans into natural to cool it down.
I'm going to be robbing one off a 3306. with a water separator. the cleanest install would be off a wax c-7 but im afraid it will stick up too far as the primer pump sits on top the secondary filter housing. once installed I wioll give an update with my pump install with required fittings and hoses.
Also you stated you cracked the line, when cranking the rack will be open so its going to try to fill the transfer pump a better test is to disconnect power from the fuel shut off than remove the line and check volume, pressure is only going to be around 5 psi.
