Be advised that the international ford and other commercial awd systems are added on not built from the factory that way and down the road parts could be hard or impossible to find. Especially things like drag links that may have been modified for the awd conversion, the other thing I have...
The problem with the cummins engine isn't the engine, the base engine is reliable the problem is the crap emmissions system, and the fact that the manufactures are required to make it go into limp home mode so you don't drive it with the cel on. the emissions systems were rushed into production...
Up in the arctic 5w40 is all I run. I only use it in liquid cooled engines though found problems with aircooled engines. it makes every thing from my yellow cat motor to my 70 something dorset ford diesel start real easy. and the plus side is extended change intervals.
After almost 3 years in south Korea, the slant back with a weapons station isn't any dryer than a soft top which makes it a fair weather machine. unless you don't mind cold water dripping on you through the bearing. If its what you want good luck, I would love a m998, but the state of Alaska...
Sorry I couldn't reply power has been out all day. The babbit in the bearing is not magnetic, but the rods and crank are, you can bet the house if the bearing is bad so is the crank and rod.
Its very rare so I didn't even suggest it earlier. I have seen rod bearing failures sound like that. Likely the hole that is dead is the one with a bad rod bearing.
Live up in Nome ,my lmtv had to ride a boat up here, its been my daily driver since I received it this summer. So far its been the best vehicle I have ever drivin on the snow and ice
Check to see if its a 1088 or 1088 a-1, the 1088 should have a 3116 ,the a-1 will have an 3126 or c-7 electronic controlled engine. If you have an electronic engine you will need a scan tool to do most diagnostics, a prolink will do every thing you need, if you have the 3126, but is only good...
I would to, but for those that might need one down the road I posted the info as to where parts for these engines are still available. The only things I found different is flywheels starters and fuel and air induction system the forklifts don't use the side draft zenith carb or manifold. The...
The engine is a hurclees, they were used in cat and Daewoo forlift trucks, just find a Daewoo forklift dealer he can get you a fuel pump for a Daewoo g -25 with hurculees engine your local cat lift truck dealer can likely get you one to.
You might want to remove the thermostat, I have seen for some reason bubbling caused by bad thermostats. The fire decks on road oiler heads are real thin if the coolant level ever gets below the fire deck you can bet the farm you are going to crack a head. If the head gets warped or isn't...
a quick fix for the unitized bearing is to remove everything from the ball joints out on a chevy 3/4 ton truck, change out your stubb axle and put in the components from the chevy to your dodge, use drive plates if you want full time 4wd ,and locking hubs if you have added the doug nash kit to...
On a 2 stroke Detroit bubbles in the cooling system most likely indicates a cracked head. One of my first jobs out of active duty was rebuilding road oiler heads, and iron lungs (blowers). We magnafluxed every head, and threw out as many castings as we kept, it could also be a leaky copper...
I was once a diehard cummins fan, since I have spent the last 10 years on cat stuff, I cant say its any better just a little different. I wouldn't go through the trouble to re power unless I had an engine I could no longer get parts or service for. Like I said I have a snow cat wit a dorset ford...
2 things to remember is it will get going in 4 wd faster than it will stop, and practice skid recovery in an empty parking lot. The awd function will work nice on ice and snow you will always stop faster in 4 wd lock because of the mechanical connection in the transfer case. Be advised this...
