The 3 M551s we have at the Museum all had a dragon on them. All were hand painted and different. The running Sheridan no longer has the dragon. All of the vehicles were recovered from NTC OPFOR, I believe at either 29 palms or Barstow, Ft Irwin.
OK, an update, Put the pump back on, sucked fuel like it should. Fired and ran OK. Smokes, it did last time I saw it run. Moved it into the back shop. and gave it a little love. Permanently installed a Racor pre filter to prevent the tri filter set up from getting full of crap. The lights didn't...
Bosch # 0402736842 is a 190 HP @ 2500, 475 ft lb @1600 torque rating with 11.5 degrees of timing, B series engine. Gov break....unloaded governor speed is 2825 to 2925 RPM. Is is an RQVK governor.
Bad news is that the MW series fuel lines will not work on work on a P pump, delivery valves are...
OK, a bit rainy here today, soooo, had a chance to do some bench work today. I SHOULDA taken pictures before disassembly, but, most of the time when I get to "work" I just start on the planned project . Today I tore down the replacement W/P for the M3 Scout car. The shaft is a little...
Maybe air, possible the 2nd valve was way worse than the original one. Air will usually cause a slow/hard start to start issue, low fuel in the galley, same as a valve that has a completely broken spring or the ball held open, that lets the fuel drain from the galley, a failing/low pressure...
Yes, they do suck if they are the hard azz Cummins part, but there is a plastic one that is used too, WAY easier! Yes, turn the screw out slightly, like 1/4 turn, it will do ALOT! The screw is under the ball, the ball is a "tamper proofing" so the fuel rate can't be messed with. Be careful when...
Simp, SOME plugged/non AFC and most all PTG pumps are built with a shaft with no ball to drill out. I just pulled one from a V8-300 in the M123 and it had a solid shaft, it was returned with a solid shaft.
You are on the right track, just work slowly and be patient. I had this issue last month on a V100, heat to almost red hot, PB blaster, love taps, re heat then quench with cold water. Had to blast them when they came out. Re paint them and then use liberal amounts of never seize when you...
25-35 is normal, most new valves fall in around 30. It is somewhat normal to see the needle on the installed gauge to bounce around, like 15 to 30 at idle but the pressure should stay fairly steady when loaded.
Restriction will cause low fuel pressure too. IIRC, 4 in suction restriction and a...
No, put the extension on 3 if you start at VS1-6 or A and do i3, v5. You will be setting the inj at the "top stop, zero lash" method, if the tag says .011 and .023, it should sat for inj setting TS zero lash. Bar the engine and watch, when the lever breaks, the mark will be around an inch or so...
Careful, if you do it wrong, you can cause damage to parts.
You should make sure the accessory drive timing is correct before you get too far into things. If you set OBC, after you set your first set of rockers, let's assume cyl 1, put a socket with a 6 or 10 inch extension on the #3 injector...
I should point out that if the return is pinched off/plugged and there isn't an injector issue, and the engine lights, the RPM will start at an idle speed and fairly quickly increase to a very high RPM. This is happening because the return has no place to go and the engine is being force fed...
You can adjust either way, IBC or OBC, If you choose OBC, at the 1-6VS mark look at the #1 and 6 cylinders. Which ever injector lever is pushed down...into the injector... and has loose valves, that is the one to start at. Torque the injector to 68-72 INCH lbs, valves at .014 and .027. If you...
Injector o rings can't suck air, they CAN get hard and flat, shunting the fuel from supply directly to return. Supply is the bottom, return is the top for the hard lines going to the heads. Get a line and go directly from the pump to a can of clean fuel, clear line is best so you can see if the...
Fuel rods? What you talkin' 'bout Simp? To go from non TS to TS injectors all you need are the injectors and hold downs. Tune up is the same. Use OBC and torque them.
If you just want to re o ring them, 18 injector o rings, 3 valve cover gaskets.
Cummins sells diesel douche in a can, it works...
Or an overfolw valve. A failed oveflow valve will not let the galley pressure get the the pressure needed to make correct low pressure pressure. If you don't get that, the correct high pressure can't be made.
