The FIRST thing to do with ANY CUCV is to change the glow plugs whether they are working or not. Go with non-swelling glow plugs. You will thank me later. A swollen glow plug is either a PITA or a royal PITA...either way it is no fun. Swap them out.
How cool is that, though, that a thread started by David came back around years after his death! I mean that in the best of ways. I was honored to carry David to his burial in my M35A3 with CARNAC...and I am heartened that the thread that he started came back years later!
Either way you go, you are going to really sap the power out of either motor with those 1600s. Guys may like the additional speed they provide on the highway, the improved performance off road, or just the looks, but they will absolutely kill your power. Given that you reside in OK, hills...

CARNAC, not sure who made the comments (I'll call you later), but I can say that your prices are great and you are one of the nicest and easiest guys to deal with. I know I always say "OK, here's the money" after you gave me a price.
Why not just order it from RAPCO? You don't pay the hazmat fees on spray cans. The only additional cost you pay is shipping. I have not seen Mark from RAPCO at the Aberdeen shows for at least five years.
If you find that it is NOT out of adjustment and is still not working properly, I suggest just replacing the sprag. They are fine when working. Once you replace the sprag, just follow the manual and it will give you years of reliable use.
