You should run a matching pair of standard starting batts. Deep cycles have no reason in a standard Cuck. Unless you are doing some serious winching or running them down all the time, starting batts only. Even if you are, a hybrid like a yellow top (which I despise) would be a good compromise.
That is one clean rig!
Enough about your truck...what is that in the background? Looks like a camo camper hooked to some medium duty rig. Please telling more :)
If you have the coin (which is not much because frontend parts are super cheap on these rigs), I would take a weekend and freshen up the entire front end. That means all new steering and balljoints, repack/adjust wheel bearings, and have it aligned. You can try and do one piece at a time but...
Make sure water is not getting in through the filler cap.
Since we are talking a small amount of fuel, I would dump that tank and fill it with fresh. New filter and maybe some biocide. Anything short of that is going to make you pull your hair out.
I love it
Loaded it to capacity...loved it
Great fuel economy
Oh yeah...had to rescue a heavy hauler that needed a jump
Just another day in a Cuck's life :)
I will tell you from personal experience that the 12k lb hydro mile markers are pretty decent winches for the money. They pull great and the speed when in HI mode spools quickly to get the line in or out. Had one on a TJ that I loved.
Here is the downside. In stock form, they tie to your...
I've got one that has that style along with a flat 4/5 underneath it. Nothing plug and play though, you will have to tap into the military harness or the factory tail lights. If you do find something plug and play, post it up. I doubt it because of the age of the vehicle. The combination plug...
Sorry to hear about everyone's loss or near miss with death. Bad things can and will happen, it's always when you least expect it.
This is not an area to be bragging about how far you step out of the line of safety.
Holy big money batman
Since all those rigs have a serpentine drive, that is probably a reverse rotation water pump. I'm assuming that will require a belt drive change in a Cuck?
So how does this seem ok? Who cares where you live, 20k lbs should only be pulled with a 2 ton plus rated medium class truck. Even the new fancy diesel 1 tons can pull (key word is pull not stop) that, still makes it a dumb move with the tractor being so small. You are aware that loads that big...
Yeah it can be done, just like kissing your sister.
You are not only creating an unsafe situation very quickly (who cares what trailer brakes you have, try emergency stopping that train wreck) but are clearly exceeding the GCVW which opens you up to some serious liability if you ever get in an...
75/90 works
Since you have an M1028, it has a clutch type front limited slip diff which requires an additive. Most parts stores will not carry it and even though the gear lube bottle says LSD compatible, I would not rely on it. You can buy the additive online but the easiest place would be to...
Things to keep in mind
-a pusher electric fan on the condenser will supplement heat transfer at low engine/vehicle speeds
-replacing an old accumulator which may no longer be able to absorb moisture in the refrigerant
-remove the expectation of seeing sub 50 degree vent temps when it is...
Realistically 12v to the injection pump and ATF in the TH400, it will get home!
What is the destination in Portland? Not much four wheeling in that neck of the woods. I highly recommend taking Rt. 1 north starting in NH. It is a great snaky road along the coast. Lots of traffic but great...
I'm right off I95 near the ME/NH border. I've got an M1031 full of tools. I will be traveling a few days at a time but I'm also on vacation as well that month. If you run into troubles, always can give you a hand.
Where are you headed in ME?
Last Sunday a passed a grou of Mass Cucks (1009 and...
IMO...money better spent elsewhere. The stock brake system is pretty good as far as hydraulics go. The OEM works well and can be rebuilt or reman'd on the cheap.
