A very flat surface (preferably concrete), a plumb bob, chalk, and a tape measure will answer your questions. Take a few points on each side then compare. You may also be able to dig up some service measurements if you know someone who works at a collision center.
Hard to believe it happened twice. It could happen if the shaft hasn't spun in years and was never greased but more than likely it would break free before an cracking the tcase. Now an over greased slip won't collapse and do the same thing. A slip won't really seize in a non-ifs truck because it...
Sounds like you should spend some time investigating to find out the extent of the damage or just be done with it. Could be a broken flex plate which makes very bad sounds, is a common failure, and not super expensive to fix. At the other end the crankshaft may have snapped being a complete...
Troubleshoot it using the manual. You also could have gotten a bad component installed during the rebuild. Anything is possible so spend quality time troubleshooting. I think you will regret doing a 12v conversion.
I think a decent non-hacked up 09 should go for $3k-$5k depending on condition. Expect normal repairs and maintenance on all and the higher end getting solid body parts. Personally, I think people who pay $8k+ for an 09 are just plain stupid or really have a fetish for one. They simply just...
Sometimes that happens especially on something so small and multiples coming from different warehouses. Belts vary depending on which brand you buy. If you are looking at Dayco belts, they are pretty cheap compared to a more premium brand. You also get a choice sometimes of items that are...
Those are very generic statements. Typically a lean mixture will run hotter EGT's where rich mixtures actually burn cooler than lean ones. Small carb's piston aircraft have mixture adjustemets where a pilot changes the mixture based on EGT and rpm.
Now in a turbodiesel, the EGT goes up with...
Walker stuff is ok quality, nothing near OEM but a good starting point. Let this be a lesson that when it comes to exhaust you either buy OEM (big $$$ and not available for older stuff) or you buy typical aftermarket (parts store quality) and make it work. A welder is your friend. A welder being...
The current draw will take horsepower but the alternator only takes so much current for the fielding circuit to keep system voltage at a set point. In other words, the alternator isn't consuming horsepower all the time, only when it's pumping electrons which is under load.
Do yourself favor...scrap whatever you have for a pair of freshly fresh group 31's. I'd recommend rebuilding both Gens as well. Then go and clean the bulb sockets in the dash. A dog head mod (fancy phrase for installing a better starter solenoid) would be another safe bet. Once this is done...
Heat them up to melt the plastic. Be careful as the hot plastic tends to always spooge out towards your face. A hammer is your best friend for freeing up stubborn joints. My opinion, spend the extra dough on genuine Spicer joints.
The FM100 and FM1000 have aluminum heads. The FM10 is made of plastic. I personally think the lower end Racor units suck especially for what you pay for them. I have a pair of nicely optioned out FM100's including a manual primer and heater. They are great quality and priced right.
The higher...
My assumption would be the aftermarket deep pans would still fill to the factory level (indicated on OEM dipstick and same distance to valvebody bottom) but submerge the filter deeper in the pan. This would lower chance of cavitation or starvation at high operating angles. I could be wrong...
Wouldn't it have more to do with the GVW, GAWR, and combined vehicle weight if a trailer is added into the equation over the physical weight of the engine? I'm just thinking big picture here.
