mechanical fuel pump removal on 6.2L

I passed 47 Cuck Vees this morning all broken down because of flooded crankcases...<br><br>The mechanical lift pump works fine with good hoses and as long as it been replaced in the last 30 years. Do you know how many OTR, tractors, and vessels have mechanical pumps over electric? They work...

mechanical fuel pump removal on 6.2L

It serves no extra function other than assisting while bleeding a new filter or freeing up the mount for an oil return fitting on a turbo upgrade. Other than that, how would an engine benefit from an electric pump. It serves the same purpose and it functions fine with the stock mechanical do how...

What Oil and Filter do you use?

Gam probably wants you to buy a genuine Delco filter. I use WIX and Rotella or NAPA brand oil depending on what's on sale.

1983 Ford F350 aircraft tug information needed

Couldn't tell you but a quick look at the tag on the diff cover will show you the ratio if it still exists. Good luck with your findings. I think the only way to see what you have is pull the cover and count the teeth along with a visual inspection to see what diff you have. It may indicate a...

    Quick photo of my 1009's

I don't understand why someone would paint that on such a nice clean rig. You may as well add a "fill in your handgun logo" decal telling people you have something in the glovebox. That way they know which rig to smash the glass out of first. Nice trucks...is that a custom side exit exhaust?

    Engines in the CUCV?

I think the serpentine setup would be nice if you could drop the two alternators for one large commercial sized 24v like a HMMWV and be able to run an A/C compressor. This would be a slick setup...

    Engines in the CUCV?

I think you are missing the entertainment value :) Plus you could always get them to ponder converting a Detroit 6.2 diesel back to gas by swapping a carb and distributor. This will keep a moron busy for weeks...

mechanical fuel pump removal on 6.2L

I would be questioning why it has an electric pump...my gut says it isn't for speedy fuel filter bleeding but rather to bandaid a possible fuel issue.

    Engines in the CUCV?

As long as you address some of the week points, I think the 6.2 will serve anyone just fine as long as you don't think it will perform like a Duramax. I agree, the haters keep prices down :) I personally love to see it compared to the Olds 5.7 diesel or how the CUCVs make great bug out vehicles...

Fred Williams has another CUCV - Check out the cool video from Dirt Everyday segment

Looks awesome...I dig the OEM military brush guard integration. I would question it's strength for such a big winch and heavy truck though.

    M1008 brake master cylinder

Wow, this makes me tired. For something as simple and cheap as a MC, get both listings and return the one you don't need. These rigs are 30 year old. You are lucky if the reman exists, you are really lucky if it fits without refitting the brake lines. If you are really cheap, just get the...

Newby considering M1009 for hunting truck....need info

If you are going way out I would consider the M1008 variants based on the running gear. Highly unlikely but if you bust a shaft, you could still limp out in 3 wheel drive. Better rear locker an lower years, this is a no brainer. Not or that an M1009 is a bad rig but I persoanally don't like...

Newby considering M1009 for hunting truck....need info

Do you need a Blazer can or will a pickup suffice? Only reason I ask is the M1009 is geared very tall and is 1/2 ton rated running gear which is not large tire friendly. The pickup variants are already geared low and will laugh at anything 40" and smaller for tires. If you decide to get a...

Did some searching. Still need help. Fuel related

I could understand the GP's causing problems on a cold start or even a fairly cool restart. What I don't buy is them being a culprit on a warm engine. One, the GP controller won't turn them on so that eliminates one problem. Two, even if the GP controller did turn them on, the affect would be...

    37" hummer tire balancing

My Ford wheels are 9.75" wide and I think are too wide, plus it makes seating the head a chore. Requires a blast gun or ether. I think an 8" would make life easier for servicing.

    37" hummer tire balancing

Regardless of whether you buy the centramatic balancers, equal, bb's, golf balls, etc. it will only cure wheel hop and not a shimmy (dynamic) balance concern. Your solution is valid but not the end all to wheel balance issues. No matter what option you choose, the end result is that the tires...

Did some searching. Still need help. Fuel related

Just going off symptoms, I vote for IP replacement unless you are getting air in from old hoses. At no point should adding or substituting an electric fuel pump solve any problems. The system works fine with a mechanical lift pump. The only reason to replace it with an electric is going to a...

    37" hummer tire balancing

I run my MT's on Ford rims with zero balancing done to them and they are OK. Remember, these are used and at this point getting fairly old. You will be hard pressed to get one perfect for something of this age and size with conventional weights. Adding a Hummer rim almost guarantees slip on...

    CUCV suburban?, or converted. PICS

I have yet to see that vintage rig with a FF 14 bolt in a 4wd configuration, only the 2wd rigs get that. I concur, unless you see a 24v system or any other BO light switches stock, more than likely a clone. I'd still drive it :)
