Rusty, just thinking about your "air dam" idea on the M109A3. One could go with a "air blister" type on the box, and once it's color matched to the truck, it might not look to obvious, and still give some streamlining.

This is the StratoLaunch aircraft that was just rolled out a couple of months ago. I was surprised to see that a single large horizontal was not used. The aircraft will carry rockets and launch them into space from high altitudes. The aircraft is constructed mostly of composites.

It's has to be one real strong, one real heavy wing. It also supports the 5th engine. I would sure like to see the performance chart for this unique aircraft.

Surprised they didn't join the horizontal as well as the wing. Looks like there would be some torsional issues in bad weather especially with just the wing joined. The F-82 Twin Mustang used a joined wing and horizontal, making for a more rigid airframe. My 2cents

The B-58 Hustler used a little less sophisticated type of Variable Geometry Inlets. The inlets moved forward and aft to help prevent air flow disruption from shock waves that formed when the aircraft was operating at supersonic speeds. Top speed of the B-58 was about 1320mph, the high speed and...

Yep, the P-80, F-86 and some other early jets were prone to compressor stalls / flameouts. :burn:

Chaplain, here are some photos of an ME-323 wreck on land and in the drink. Couple more of an ME-323 in flight and the ME-323 in combat over Malta. Wikipedia says they built over 200 of these aircraft. Too bad there are no easy to recover survivors.
