Picked-up the chassis today. Flat-towed it home. Had to flip the leafspring pads in order to get the wheels to track straight, but after that it was smooth sailing. Almost time to start re-assembly!

Chassis is sandblasted and primed, and should be getting painted sometime next week. Will be flat-towing the rolling chassis home with a towbar as soon as it's done, and then it'll finally be time to put the new 5-ton MF engine in there, reinstall the transmission, install the new transfer-case...

Probably not with the stock radiator in the stock location, no. But I've got an A3 hood, so have to make a new grill to work with that, and am planning on adding an intercooler and a few other custom touches anyway. Custom/modified radiator wouldn't be any trouble. Cool to know it might be...

Why? To speed-up the steering? Probably not a good idea. You need to maintain the right geometry of the steering linkage (pitman arm, drag-link & steering arm on knuckle) relative to the suspension linkage (front half of the leafsprings) or bumpsteer will increase and that's bad, mmmkay...

No, that's easy. All you have to do is anchor the top corners (front/back) on the high side of the box to something secure. A winch-line from another vehicle that you can pay-out gradually would be ideal. Jack up one side of the vehicle (forklift?) so that the winch cable is not supporting it...
