The 5 speed will fit with little modification. The 7 will mean moving the transfer case back and I don't think there's enough room on an 818 the drive shaft is SHORT already. If you want to drive up I can show you the 931 distances. Also if you want a 5 speed transmission we can get you one for...
Well the question remains, what do you plan on doing with it? Personal play thing, do anything you want, cost effective hauler 915, 916, 920 if you are doing any offroad equipment movement.
1070 is way cool but I think overkill for 99% of us I think a 818 with a 8.3cta and a 7 speed Allison...
Okay bud you will want an overdrive transmission or get ready to slow down down the 939 mt654cr is a 1:1 if you are wanting to roll with the big dogs you need a 915 or something else. I have some fun idea's but not sure where you want to get to.
TB58 I have a pair of buds up your way that might give you some good pointers as they have made the trip. Denali fox on here is one don't know if he is still on here but I have phone number for both guys.
OK definitely dodge the grapevine on 5 for that mater all of California, the last guy that I know that took that route going north didn't make it with his vehicle in one piece, got run over on the freeway. I would also drop on down to 10 instead of running 20 across.
The new TM still list 10wt but only for 55°F down to -4°F, 15/40 from 10°F - 110°F, Dexatron 3 from -15°F- 75°F, and OEA from -65°F- 40°F think it might be learned from more operations in hot climates.
Okay I was wondering where all these people were coming up with 15/40 versus 10wt now I know thanks Swamp Donkey but the original manual called for 10wt.
Check the dates on and in the first few pages for which manual is newest and has what changes, back in the day I was a technical publications...
You do realize that without pictures and verification by Carnac that this truck was in some odd unit. That nobody will believe the low mileage claim. I know that the chance exist that it is real but you will have to prove it.
Look at the plug and see if the cable had embedded into it if it didn't you can probably reuse it. Private Pile probably didn't assemble it properly, hence why it pulled out so easily.
Thimble and plug are what the manufacturer call them and if the cable pulled out I would recommend they be replaced you can buy them from Esmet directly and the installation instructions are on their Web site and on here somewhere ( I posted them).
