    939a0 designation debate

Okay the Bosnian armored trucks could be considered a field modification but the air ride and the ROPS trucks should be a different NSN and designation.

If you ask me those should have been A3's.

    939a0 designation debate

Also the P1 gets a different NSN, the NSN for the M931A2P1 is 2320-01-523-1117. The air ride trucks should have been a E2 and also the Bosnian armored trucks should have been a E1 not sure which was done first. But what would a M931A1P1 with air ride be? And that is not a wishful truck as I have...

    939a0 designation debate

And after my digging around this morning and past discussions with transportation folks I believe that "basic" might be a better and proper way to designate the standard M939.

    939a0 designation debate

Yeah fuzzytoaster I have used it so often it will be hard to stop. You won't find a A0P1 it will be just M939P1. I also believe that the P stands for protection. What I find odd is that nobody has come up with a E1 or E2 or XM939 that I know of, I have seen many trucks that should have one of...

But wait! I didn't start it after all, NDT did back in March of 2009! Before I joined! So just followed the example of the OLD folks who went before me. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?t=32534

Doghead the suffix would be used to separate the different trucks within the series, as in turn in of all M939 and M939A1 trucks but not to include any M939A2 trucks. Won't find that Unicorn but I can find you a M9XXP1. If they have not all been destroyed.

    939a0 designation debate

Holy cow batman! My Google is stronger than Doghead on this. It is a M931A2 with a armored cab and this is where the confusion came in at shelby. Someone was sorting trucks and had A0, A1, A2, A0P1, A1P1, A2P1 listed to sort them out. But there is no A0! As stated earlier I apologize for...

Started to say drum lock but couldn't figure out the funky bending. So is it still spring loaded? So just swing it forward to clear the tab, push inward the swing back to the inside of the tab to hold it unlocked?

    939a0 designation debate

Okay I have seen a few guy fussing over the use of the (A0) suffix and it may be my fault but in my defense it came off base at Camp Shelby and I will try and see if it is Official or not this week. I believe that I have seen it on a list of vehicles on RSMS. If not then please forgive me for...

Floridianson that wasn't aimed at you but at the OP Bushton4. He is confused about the screws operation and what the protective control box (pcb) is. Your post made sense to me.
