Took the 757 on the trails I prepared today and snapped a few pictures.
I swear it's more responsive without the muffler and the sound is just awesome.
When I find someone with a video camera, I'll make a short video...promise...
So, anybody willing to do a trade, my M105 trailer for a set of six chains (for 1100-20 tires, NSN 2540-00-933-9022)?
Chains can be uses, broken whatever, just more or less complete military per NSN above.
Thanks.

Good work Will. There is a Vintage Video (#VHS151) that shows the M548 at APG back in the sixties. They were originally made to swim, but that was later not a requirement according to the later TMs, IIRC...
Thanks for the images/video, Will and Jeff!
This is my favorite, CLP. I think it contains Teflon particles for long lasting lubrication.
Some control cables have built-in zerk fittings, so a heavier grease may be in order, but the whole assy must come apart for a grease that doesn't "run".
LOL Stuart, just can't get that 656 out of your mind, right?
Here is my 757 from last Winter in 8-10 inches of snow, tires at 10 psi.
Edit: Added image.
It's a routine application to allow the stored energy in the relay coil to "recirculate" instead of arcing across the switch contacts when the switch opens.
Found this with a little googling to show a similar scheme on an aircraft starting system.
A Varistor can also be used.
Absolutely. Also, consider using battery back-up (with pure sine wave inverter) in addition, for a quiet time by the TV/computer. The fridge stays cool for many hours in an emergency.
The spec for the 1100-20 tire chains are shown below. The side chain and the cross link specs are what I'm looking for (the lengths are not important).
The cross link chains are casehardened.
It will take a few hundred feet of chain, so if the price is right, I rather modify scrap chain than...
Correct, you don't run 35-40 amps through the start switch. According to the spec, the solenoid relay (on the starter motor) can run up to 75 amps and still be within design limits.
What's available in "junked" snow chains for this size tire? Would like to modify them for use on my 8x8. The side and cross chains are the same gauge, if that word applies, just different lengths...
The word "requires" is important. In a power outage situation, the fridge and communications are important the rest can use a little "our-conditioning", an expression my first wife and I used when living in Florida in the '70s (as opposed to air-conditioning, of course).
For an average house...
Thanks for sticking your neck out Jake!
The multi is still a compression ignition type engine, just a slower and a more complete combustion making it a very efficient and also a relatively quiet engine. I'd love to see a complete analysis of the exhaust one day.
The viscosity of the fuel can be...
