Sorry to hear that!
I cannot stand to hear about poor customer service and businesses need to be smarter than that in this electronic day and age. For one, I agree your mechanic should not be doing work for free regardless of the part quality...the man needs to get paid. The dealer or parts...
Unfortunately...people nowadays are just plain stupid and drive way too fast in their traction controlled street treaded SUV. Too bad you are unable to chain up because you can pretty much do whatever you want with a good set of chains except run really fast down the road. Sounds like your...
I've had that Goodyear MTR pattern tires before and I loved the tread. Was excellent in everything except big rocks or thick mud. All around an awesome tread pattern. I've also had plenty of Treadwright tires before and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.
I think once my MT's wear out (if that...
I will tell you that a rear Detroit and front LSD keep you awake at all times. Obviously the traction they provide when you put the skinny down is superior to open diffs but they will also not think twice of skidding you into a ditch much faster than the open diffs will. I would prefer them but...
I could have swore I posted my part numbers for building it but I bought two small heim joints from McMaster Carr for each end. Then I got two pieces of tube of differrent size. I bought bronze inserts so the two pieces can slide into each other. I welded nuts on each end so the Heims thread...
The 37" Goodyear MT is a great all around tire. Having said that...they suck at doing anything well, light snow being one of them. I think a few of the reasons why so many people run them including myself is the durability factor and the price point. If they cost more than $75-100 each, most...
C-clips and crush collars...all created to cut costs and reliability.
Although I can't say too many bad things because the 14 Bolt has a crush collar. Then again, you can remove the entire pinion housing and work on it off the truck. What a great freakin' axle :)
If there is no witness mark they either measured the pinion preload (very rare someone does that) or counted the turns of the pinion nut (more common but certainly not preferred). I would throw a yoke and a new seal. I can't count how many times I've replaced seals for them just to leak again...
Do you have any visible fuel leaks? You may also want to spend some time replacing all fuel hoses and making sure your filter is not bleeding air into the system.
Probably needs a yoke due to heavy groove on seal mating surface. Another probability is that since it is a crush collar pinion bearing setup, the shop screwed up and now you have serious problems. Does the yoke have any play? Also, do you see any markings on the pinion nut?
Replacing pinion...
You have a lot more reading to do if you are trying to ID the pump, cool the engine down with water, and thinking it's a 12v problem. We will need lots more info to troubleshoot.
Wait...they know how to turn it up but need directions for installation???
I would tackle it myself, not a very difficult job. Your ribs will hurt from leaning over the radiator support but that's it. Biggest thing you can mess up is pump timing or dropping the IP gear bolts down into the...
Probably more cost effective to buy a wrecked or salvage later model rig with a 5.9 Magnum with a 5 speed (2500 or 3500 rig). This will give you everything you need plus fuel injection. You will probably spend double trying to find a 360, get an NV4500 seperately, make the tcase work, etc.
I'm curious what the price tag on that engine was.
One thing I'd like to do is take a junkyard supercharger off of something like a Mercedes (belt driven non-roots style) and mount it on the 6.2 in a low boost application. Maybe use a HMMWV crank pulley for an extra belt. I've noticed how much...
Interesting engine build
I'm not sure how replacing every component in a 6.2 and adding twins along with water injection (not to mention probably cutting its service life down) is comparable in price and practicality to a base 6BT or ISB which would take nothing more than some turbo/IP mods...
