Cucv M1008 (6.2 Detroit diesel) and Digital Dakota

They are not really sensors but rather over temp or low oil pressure switches. You will have to remove them and replace with sending units. If the Dakota digital dash uses OEM senders, just get the stock ones from a donor that has a full gauge setup or order online somewhere like Rockauto or...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Anything marine will also work like Boatlife. Usually better rated for UV durability plus it will hold the rack in place without any bolts. I would almost go as far as sealing it from the inside as well under the headliner. After it sets up use a garden hose to test.

    M1008 Winch

That post #10 just gave me a ton of reading to do because I'm on the fence of permanent vs. multi mount and electric vs. hydraulic. I've owned plenty but it's still cool to see everyone's setup with feedback. This should definitely be a sticky with an on going list of winch install threads. It...

    M1008 Winch

Yes...send it to me!!! Since it 24v, stick with it. Winches are like cow bell, can't have too much of either.

    Other boost options

I understand you did a bunch of research and of course everyone on a CUCV board would be sensative about a 6.2 because that is what they have but buildling a 6.2 is like putting granite counter tops in a single wide mobile home. Yes it can be done, doesn't make it right. Good news is that we...

    M1010 fuel pump woes

Always thread the fuel line on partially before you bolt the pump to the block. Easier to start the threads while the pump can wiggle around.

When are you selling the Burb to me?

    Other boost options

I agree that the 6.2 gets a bad rap and they work well in stock form. Would you really want to have a 400-600hp 6.2? It is like a grenade with the pin out. Do you have any data on this marine 6.2 because I'm very skeptical on that number being a stock figure. Just for comparison, if you jump...

    Other boost options

I'm not an expert with diesels or propane injection but I think the only advantage of propane on an NA diesel is maybe more complete combustion. Putting any more hydrocarbons into an NA diesel whether it is diesel or propane will result in over fueling and black smoke. Probably why no one does...

Camo seat cover with cargo pockets question

That is what I'm looking for although they only make them for Jeeps and the Avalanche. Bummer...

    m1028 backlash problem

I don't know what you guys are complaining about Prussian Blue for...I always enjoy doing gear work so afterwards it looks like I just murdered a smurf. Yes you can use that as a quote :)

Camo seat cover with cargo pockets question

I searched in the CUCV forums and could not find the photo. Does anyone know of the manufacturer or where to buy them? I remember seeing in a couple of builds a camo seat cover that had cargo pockets down in the area behind your knee and also some pouches in the center of the bench seat area...

    CUCV towing issue

Your slugglish concern is what I like to call normal performance for a M1031 on 37's carrying around 'some equipment' in the box...too bad these trucks don't have a real Detroit diesel :p

Turbo LS swap. Swamp Donkey 2 The Saga Begins.

Two things One, when you are welding those rims, how do you center the insert up for run out? Do you just throw it on an axle and spin it up with a dial indicator? Does it tend to warp while cooling? Two, you are moving at too slow a pace...I need turbo shots and I need them now!!! You can't...

M1028 frame stiffening idea, yay? or nay?

I would say spend more time and resources on items such as a fuel fired heater to get your truck warm in the morning, gauges, maybe an overdrive for lengthy road trips, etc. Frame stiffening I would think wouldn't fall high on the list. If your truck rides that harsh, maybe a set of soft rear...

M1028 frame stiffening idea, yay? or nay?

What are you looking to accomplish with your truck? I agree that some frame flex is necessary on a larger truck especially when you get into MDT and HDT chassis trucks with high GVW's...generally you would probably shoot for the lowest possible on a lighter duty truck. Frame flex on an offroad...

    m1028 backlash problem

If you didn't mark which bearing race and shims go on each side then you are pretty much back to square one...take it t a gear shop if you do not have the tools or experience. This can all snowball into more expensive repairs if you don't get it right. I agree that if it truly had .017" of...

M1009 New IP, now won’t turn over

Seems like 24v genuine Delco Remy starters are under $120 all day long on fleebay. I would highly recommend an end an alternative to cranking the engine to prime the fuel system. It is only going to kill batts and starters. Invest in a nice manual prime fuel filter setup to avoid this.
