    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

As useless as that truck is, it's a pretty cool movie rig. Too bad the guy who owns it in Iowa doesn't have photos of it somewhere. I'm amazed that someone is building a replica of it. Lot's of old school 80's and 90's hardware on that truck like the Warn and Con-Ferr equipment. Vintage Baby! I...

    Crankcase Vent

Yes, remove the absolutely overwhelming amount of CDR plumbing and just run a straight breather tube down onto the ground. They did that prior to the 1960's. It worked well if you like checking your oil level once a week, blowing oil all over the frame, and leaving rainbow puddles everywhere you...

    CUCV gearing

Sounds like you will either keep that converter from locking and really heat up your ATF or it will be constantly hunting between 3rd and 4th which was one of the major 700R4 killers back in the day. I'd probably drop a set of 4.56 CUCV axles in it with that setup rather than regear the 10 bolts...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

I dig this rig. Your faded red paint, stock steel wheels, and now brush guard remind me of the Suburban from the Dante's Peak movie. Although it was a gasser 1/2 ton and was pulled across the river, it was a cool movie truck.

    CUCV Motor Mount Bolts

Thank you very much...one more for the punch list. May I add while you are under there to torque the starter fasteners as well, mine all turned 1/4 to 1/2 turn...yikes!!!

    M1009 Axle Swap

How about some CUCV axles so you are geared, locked, and ready to go. I wouldn't waste money on a set of axles you will have to regear, you will be higher on cost for your gears, bearings, install kits, and a detroit. Just start with CUCV axles if 4.56 are close to what you want.

    Battery relocation with turbo

Make no mistake, I have owned many Optimas in my personal vehicles with great success under hard abuse. I have also replaced many in other peoples trucks and friends' rigs that just all of a sudden died. Optima has been really hit or miss lately and for the price I am bored with it. There are...

    Battery relocation with turbo

I've never had performance issues with Optimas but I certainly have had a ton of hit and miss success with them. Most under warranty but lots have failed for no reason. I no longer invest lots of money in a battery based on a name. I go with decent warranty/price.

    one 24volt alternator modification, m1010

Solenoids are available to switch battery wiring for this particular scenario. 12v charging system but 24v starting system. Be aware they are $200+ depending on what amperage you are looking for. This may be a good option for those looking to do a 12v conversion while retaining the 24v starter...

Owner of this M1009 please...How many inches is lift...?

After looking closely at the diff and locking hub...whatever it is probably has a D60 front with wheel spacers based on that one photo.

Cucv front camber adjustment how to

I assume you are trying to put some type of shim between the spindle and steering knuckle. You can just buy an adjustable ball joint so you can dial in both camber and caster to a very limited amount on a straight axle. Be aware that if you are out of spec and both balljoints are ok, more than...

fuel return lines- ok to trim?

Be careful as Tygon is not rated for the heat in the engine bay. I used it on my fuel tank lines but standard rubber hose for engine bay stuff.

    HMMWV rims and M1008 ??

There are only a handful of manufacturers that actually make a DOT approved beadlock...the list gets even smaller when you are looking for an alloy rim. I wouldn't hesitate to run a custom offset steel wheel if the person doing the work has a good reputation. Yes you have modified a DOT approved...

    HMMWV rims and M1008 ??

Depends on what state you live...Maine does not allow any wheel spacers. Are they unsafe, not really. I ran spacers on my Toyota crawler with heavy offset 37's. I never had a problem. I also checked my wheel torque every 1,000 miles.

M1031 passenger side saddle tank/offroad fuel storage

Since I live in New England and April brought extreme hot and cold weeks when my kerosene tank was very low, I ran out twice because I simply didn't add enough or order 100 gallons again. So I wanted a way to bring fuel home with me to top the house off. I also wanted to add capacity to my truck...

Gear vendors and drive train loading

The lock up converter really is the big sell here, without it the auto trans is a power/fuel hog when you are trying to go for economy. Ever think of an NV4500 swap?

M1031 pulls to the right in 4-high unlocked

I would highly suggest after you fix your hubs to change your diff fluid and put in limited slip additive. More than likely you made that Trac Lok very upset.
