While you are doing the spin on thing for the fuel filters, you might consider speddmons spin on oil filter adapter kit http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?120261-MEP-002a-and-MEP-003a-Spin-on-Oil-Filter-Adapter-Kit-129-00
One thing I have learned about electricians over the years is they love to say "it is against code" when they don't want to do things a certain way, yet when you try to get them to point to the code violation they can't.
I have to strongly disagree with the most of the time, and prone to failure comment, also rebuilt injection pumps for the MEP-002a / MEP-003a sell in the $300 ballpark which is fairly good for injection pump pricing.
In my experience the date of invoice is often the day after the auction ends, sometimes the day after that. Then you have to schedule a pick up appointment which may be a few days later, but still counting towards your cut off date.
Sounds great, I am glad there were no major issues, I would suggest keeping an eye on output voltage both AC and DC as voltage regulation issues tend to pop up once things get warm.
If you can get to it you can probably measure the resistance across the various terminals of the switch without disconnecting anything and see if there is an internal fault in the switch. You should probably use the ohm values for this and not just look for continuity.
Ok, lets put some numbers on this and take a middle of the road cost approach assuming there are no problems that are not potentially visible now and look at the cost of the parts that are currently suspect, the M50 injection pump, missing steel injection lines, and possibly 4 injectors:
A...
Ok, here is a quick take on things:
Don't over pay for a low hour meter, they mean very little as the military would swap them out when they break, so you may have a generator with 4,000 run time hours since the last rebuild and an hour meter that reads 300 hours. Also watch out for very high...
First to answer your questions, there are only 2 sets of wires in that area, one goes to the solenoid next to the injection pump, the other goes to the centrifugal speed switch under the fan shroud, I an guessing you have part of the second in the photo.
Secondly it is not common to remove any...
One thing to be aware of, to the ear the MEP-002a and MEP-003a sound just about the same as far as overall loudness goes, but the MEP-003a sounds smoother. I have compared mine running one after the other side by side and walked about the same distance away from them until the sound was at a...
You have came to the right place, my suggestion is to read back over lots of old message threads on these units, although you are not likely to find a whole lot on the MEP-016E, they are good units, perhaps one of the best of the MEP-016 family (I too want to find a good one, and already have a...
It is hard to answer this question without knowing a lot more about your setup. It sounds like you have multiple main panels wired directly to your meter, if that is the case a single manual transfer switch between the meter and the panels would probably be best. From the way you worded your...
The voltage regulation system on these generators works backwards from the way most generator voltage regulators work, The normal state of operation is feeding full output into the exciter and the AVR circuit board works by lowering this output. Others can give a better description of how all...
