Actually divemaster, the difference is in the exhaust or drive side, not the intake, the exhaust side on a "D" turbo is considerably larger whereas the "C" turbo really decreases in diameter quickly.
Ok,based on your description,it does have the correct non overdrive trans for a multifuel 5 ton.But since it does not start easily I would check your intank pump to see if it's working properly, the check the fuel filters.
If all is well with the fuel system, the check the air filter/cleaner for...
Zyrtecx,
I'm guessing by your location that you live along I-40,possibly west of Morganton? If you want you can meet Brian and I here at the house and convoy with us.
PM me and i'll send you directions.
First,Just a few questions about your truck,I see it is an A2 model which should be a LDS 465-1A multifuel,if so,are you absolutely certain it has the non overdrive trans in it?(is 5th gear all the way to the right and foward twards the dash or backwards twards the seat?)
Second,How does it...
Well,after looking at the pictures,I concluded this may be a XM62E1, E2,or E3.
They used the same boom/bed combination as a WW2 M1A1 wrecker.I hope scoot is close enough to go take a few up close shots of it.
BTW,the rear winch was built ONLY for the GOER,and the M553 was the only GOER series truck to carry a spare tire.
Also the M553 tipped the scales at a ready to roll weight of 37,870 lbs,a full 12,440 lbs than the M520 cargo and 9770 lbs than a M559 tanker.
Actually the bomb loading rail has a lighter top rail and goes all the way to the front of the bed as well.I believe the bomb loader only is rated for 1000 lbs, these are rated for 3000 lbs.The M27 bomb handling rail extended a lot further beyond the tailgate vs the wrecker and had a lighter...
Hmmmm,473 miles from here,9 hrs drive time,50 gal of fuel to get there,50 gal back(if I drive the Deuce).
Hmmmmm,I do have an extra week of vacation this year.
Hmmm,I have had people STILL card me for tobacco and any drinking I may do,But have still been called SIR once in a while.
Been around MVs since I was 8(dad and I owned a few),I could drive a M3 halftrack when I was 11!!(dad bought it surplus)
But,In calendar years,I'll be 34 as of...
Actually GoHot,the 816 and M543 use an odd combonation of fuel tanks, the left(drivers) side tank is the standard 5 ton 78 gallon tank, the pass side tank is a 55 gallon tank, same tank as a 5 ton tractor or dump.
Just FYI,the fuel tanks are interchangeable between the 816,543 ,and M62 series...
