    55Mph Detonation. . .

That finding goes back a while, just did a search on Google and found this among other hits (from thunderpress.net): "It’s a sad fact, the SAE grading system has consisted solely of a check on the time taken for a measured volume of oil to flow under gravity through a small orifice in a piece...

    55Mph Detonation. . .

Reading this with a great deal of interest....the thread is bogging down a bit, so I'll try to contribute with some things to discuss. We need to correlate the hour meter and the odometer readings. Too bad they are not on the same instrument, but if we assume that they have been together for the...

    solergizer hook up!

Hey Chris, the M925 down in Mt Airy had two 24-volt solargizers installed at one time for their quad pack of batteries...I presume you'll be running with two batteries, which should be enough IMHO. Swyne, I would remove the batteries from the truck and keep the on the maintainer in the garage...

    DOT 5 Brake Fluid

Interesting comment about jelling if mixed. I had DOT5 and DOT3 in a jar for a year on my work bench and the two never effected each other, stayed separate as two incompressible liquids. IMHO, it would even be good to have some DOT3 in the system to keep any water from freezing, but that's just...

    Grooving my 11.00's for snow

There is a difference between "grooving" and "siping" (Sperry deck shoe type). I have manually siped all my 1100-20 tires on the deuce for improved wet pavement traction. For snow and ice I use chains....if no chains, air down. With chains, the tires don't need to be aired down and remember, add...

    South Wind Heater Wick

I don't have a record of my purchase, it's been a year or more, but here is one that should work. I did have to get several sizes and I believe this is it. The one in the images above is almost 3/16 in dia, but then again, not sure how they are measured. 3 ROUND FIBERGLASS KEROSENE LAMP WICKS...

    South Wind Heater Wick

This image shows the vaporizer removed from the mounting plate and it shouldn't be too hard to put a new wick in after all. Some time ago, I called SW on the heater spare parts and you will not like the prices, the fuel control valve, for example, is over $700 with a minimum purchase of 3 units...

    South Wind Heater Wick

The wick is difficult to replace and is an important item on the SW heaters. You should be able to get wicks on line. They may be made from fiberglass and should be approx 1/8" dia. IMHO, the vaporizer doesn't have to be perfect for the heater to work, but it's fragile so handle carefully when...

    South Wind Heater Test Data

Hi James, PM sent. If there is more than one card as you indicate, please, send copies of all...I like statistics. :-) Thanks

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Chris, is this the ball joint that Chad custom made for you? It's on the linkage plate seen from the front in 2nd image. If you can use it, provide a mailing address and its yours.

Fan clutch on the NHC 250 Cummins

I was thinking about the pneumatic actuator only (image above), not the clutch itself....meanwhile learning about the related fan clutch on the Cummins. Yeah, plenty of hits on ebay and I may end up going that route.

Nice statistical sample here, I don't think the percentages will change much from now on....good old bell curve. :-)

My BIG M925A2 Project Truck Is Home

Chris and Chad, I can imagine your smiling faces driving down that dirt road, once driven by the cranetruck also. Shouldn't be much traffic to worry about on those nearby paved roads either, for that matter. Nice going!

    tatra 813 new owner

History is similar for US vehicles, the original heaters were gasoline only, but new designs patented in the 1950's involved better vaporization of the fuel, permitting heavier fuels like kerosene, #1 and #2 diesel to be used as well as gasoline. They are now called "multifuel" heaters. The...

Interesting how similarly problems are solved in different places. The blow torch approach is used in extreme cold weather on the M973 (Swedish BV206). A circulation tank is hooked up to the engine cooling system and a hand held blow torch is used to heat the coolant, which circulates by...

    tatra 813 new owner

I have to add that tool to my wish list. :-) If the conversion factor is correct, 12,000 Kcal/Hr is equivalent to about 48,000 BTU/Hr. The personnel heaters in the MVs here are usually rated 15,000 to 30,000 BTU/Hr, so that one will toast you for sure. I don't have any better copies of the...

    Air Compressor Question

Yeah, it's different, the pulley assembly fits on a keyed tapered shaft, which is threaded for a castle nut. Don't know if the shaft is the same on the deuce, but if it is, this pulley would fit. It uses a different tool for disassembly.

Fan clutch on the NHC 250 Cummins

What are you driving? Fan noise in cab=m656/xm757, if so, any pictures? BTW, that's not what I want to do, I'm looking for a good actuator for the hydraulic retarder on the transmission. A spring loaded pneumatic piston with a 1/2 inch travel.

Fan clutch on the NHC 250 Cummins

Well, it goes to show how little I know about this series...saw this (image) and wanted to dig deeper. How and where is this item used? If it's still on the parts truck, I may be able to use it for my 8x8 hydraulic retarder.
