Good job on the tank Duncan, you need to think about cleaning slag and other debris from the inside, though. Also a possible coating to keep rust away. I'm using old steel tanks as subs for the original aluminum tanks (long gone and hard to find) on my 8x8 and added a magnetic filter in line to...
Also lots of M62 wrecker info..18 pages of BII, tools and equipment! Whoever restores one of these to completion, will have his or her hands full for a long time. :-)

Added a few more pages on winching operations, this from a 1954 PS magazine to put you in tune with our vintage vehicles.

My deuce is basically "fording ready" to 4-5 ft, has been for years. Even if you only drive in water deep enough to cover the axles, you are in for a lot of maintenance. Only way to know if wheel bearings didn't take water is to take everything apart....
I have no plans to drive in deep water...
Jesse, read about the m656/xm757 trucks, they were designed to swim/ford with a minimum of preparations. They also feature the multifuel engine.
A valve on top of the rocker covers (visible in image #1) makes it possible to pressurize the engine and the blowby gases are normally going out the...
Curious about the recapping id marking, there should be 4 letters, beginning with "R" and what is the date code for the recap? I'm not interested in the tires, just the information, please. The recap code on some of my 8x8 tires is "REOR" and the code seems to be nowhere to be found.
As a...
Yes, on the deuce they are separated already, the 8x8 uses 100% air brakes and there is no venting in the "traditional" sense.
Right Tom, using a separate fuel tank for the heater(s) like this, will permit any fuel, including gasoline to be used.
Jesse, get a copy of the next Military Vehicles...
By improving the illumination you can reduce the voltage and increase life expectancy.
Clean all instrument "windows", take a look at a gauge that you may have laying around and you'll see the slits along the inside edge designed to let light in, clean those.
Change bulbs to the #356, which puts...
To make the tank water proof and to eliminate the need for an adapter, I have installed a couple of fittings, one for venting and one to go the fuel pump. The vent will connect to the rest of the vent system on the truck.
Thanks, Duncan! To take it a little further, does the unit come apart for visual inspection of the combustion chamber, if so, how is it sealed? That seal is a weak spot on the Benmar heater, being exposed to high temperature and not surviving a very long time in storage.
How is the fuel...
It is one of these, JW. Don't know about the IP hookup though.
Nice project Jason, sorry about not being able to help out with parts, the m925 I have access to is very much stripped down now.
