Yeah, I should have been more clear about swapping the alt. I think Sean Fulner was the first I ever saw mention it a couple years back but he went to a 200a Niehoff out of a HMMWV instead. That was when I snagged the Bussman, though. As I said, it was when I still had my 100a A0 (I'm the...
I follow. But the Fast Cooler box was like $1500 back in the day. No idea what they run these days. I'd love to have one for the full day runs down Padre to Port Mansfield jetties in the prerunner but not very practical. .
Still, I'm looking at AC options for the truck...not so much...
I actually have a Bussmann 21100E00 still in the box. I was going to install it as a balancer but I can get another one to run as a converter.
You have better ideas on this than I do. I haven't put much thought into the concept of this yet, but that is exactly why I picked up the Bussman...
Yes, we used run desert cars (I still own two prerunners). I'm quite familiar with the systems you refer to. We ran Fast Cooler suits years ago (nothing really inexpensive about the units). But it's absolutely not something I wish to invest in to drive my truck around town, to the beach, or...
Tan with small dark brown dots?
If so, yeah he posts here. He had some mechanicals getting it home. He posted some great shots but that may have been on FB (I left FB and haven't been censored since). I should have a couple pics of that truck somewhere.
:)
Rgr that.
I've found them for $970.48 at one store, so +$220.
Glad you mentioned that because I searched for the commercial and Amazon dropped that part I see.
Chillers aren't all that effective in +80% humidity (year round except Feb which is our winter in S. TX). LOL
But yeah, I rode Harleys most of my life. Wet bandanas can safe your life in the heat!
So that total is $1312 for the 13500 BTU Dometic (add $70 for the 15000 BTU, but I suspect 13500 would be more than ample for the cab).

That Visionaire sounds sort of like the system Seal Filner (the "Able" channel on YouTube) ran hooked up to his hydraulic system. He grenaded his power steering pump when he was testing the compressor. I think his was from a crane or forklift. It's an interesting alternative, though.
Diesel gen (10hp Dewey Battery Charging Auxiliary Power Unit with a 6kW gen head swap) will do it. I just don't want to have to run the gen while driving (I'm already lucky to get 7mpg). Haven't totally ruled out rooftop for the cab, but I sort of have other plans for up there.
:)
Interesting bit of kit. A buddy recommended I look into this (he has one on their boat). In the past, I had thought about looking into the 12v AC used on Prius, etc but this is plug-n-play almost and has FAR more BTU. The price is comparable to what some of the less-rip surplus sellers are...
No, but there are different TM (manuals) based on the type of truck (A0, A1, A1R).
You have an A0 and the TM for that truck is available (but the schematics in the back are a bit of a mess to understand).
As Geo said, there is a harness behind the heater that would accept a pigtail leading to...
