    Switch Next to Diagnostics Port

It's a good idea to flip it up when not in use (at least at nights). Just in case the truck encounters a 12v "leak" as many do.
  2. Third From Texas

    Spare Tire Cylinder

Yep. Those were just the most recent that I've followed since they were posted and that I had bookmarked. No doubt there may be others but Dragonbyte's search function is a wee bit lacking at times.

    Replacement seat options

There are a number of OSHA articles that discuss the handling of airbags. How does it happen? How do unloaded guns kill people? People don't know what they are doing when screwing with them (most folks are from a generation that either never had them or from the generations that followed who...

    Replacement seat options

That brings up a very good point. Know what you are buying or at least know how to recognize an airbag system. Having an airbag charge go off unexpectedly while installing can be dangerous.

    Batteries

I've run dual batteries on all three trucks I've owned. *not my drawing, I don't know whom to credit, though

Interesting trans jack design for FMTVs

Speaking of welding, I wish I had more room for fab. I want to make this *so* badly...

MV Addiction filled. Reis the Beast M1078A0 is born

Mission-specific. Older CPU and RAM can choke on modern software and Internet sites. But yes you can do a lot with an old Linux box. I wouldn't say better off due to the hardware antiquity. The physical components of a 15 y/o PC simply don't talk to each other or process data anywhere near...

The lack of “don’t buy an FMTV” posts led to this...

Nice. Love the paint. There are about a half dozen guys here who had to extend their frames for RV builds who are crying right now, though. Heh

Interesting trans jack design for FMTVs

That's pretty badass if your in the business, but too rich for my blood. When the time comes that I have to ever drop a trans, I just can't see spending that kinda cash for the project.

MV Addiction filled. Reis the Beast M1078A0 is born

Heh, Vista was only surpassed by Millennium in terms of suck. But yes, great for opening pdfs. ;)

MV Addiction filled. Reis the Beast M1078A0 is born

If the broken one isn't too old, you can always use it as a pocket PC. I have one that does nothing but music in my shop and run my engine tuning software, and another that I may use as a built-in PC for inside the habitat or cab. I've used them in flight simulator builds, all kinds of stuff...

New To MV's And FMTV's Future Purchase. Help!?

Nice indeed. I have my eye on a few as alternate bug out rides in case shtf. Of course, they aren't mine. :)

Bummer, but all that data is still on there. Plug it into a regular monitor via HDMI cable. You can still see what's on it. Then back up what you need onto a thumb drive or a backup hard drive.

New To MV's And FMTV's Future Purchase. Help!?

Maybe, but the best boat is someone else's. ;)

New To MV's And FMTV's Future Purchase. Help!?

Maintenance costs are also like any other big class-8 commercial truck (and then some).

New To MV's And FMTV's Future Purchase. Help!?

Yep. As Awesome said M1079's are somewhat common (not nearly as common as a the troop bed trucks like the M1078). You can likely forget about an M1087. They are extremely rare (I only personally know of two in civilian hands, "Bantha" and one owned by Texas High Water Rescue). *and out there...

New To MV's And FMTV's Future Purchase. Help!?

So, like an LMTV just not on land? ;)

    FMTV Water Pump Belt Replacement

Ah, rgr all. I just remembered my first truck's original radiator had been "airyated" when the fan fragged. :).

    FMTV Water Pump Belt Replacement

...or it launches thru the radiator. :)

LMTV as an RV in California

I agree with your cost and distance logic here. Keep in mind, fuel and fuel taxes are going to quadruple now (and you poor bastards out there in CA already paid too much for a $1.25 worth of diesel fuel). The issue is "California is the Model for the Nation" according to the incoming...
