    Air Compressor Head Gasket leaking

Giant leak, try pressurizing the system with the engine off, sometimes you can't hear a leak with the engine running. Failed governor, failed unloader in the compressor head.

Over filled radiator all of a sudden.

If you checked it cold and it was "burping" you can t/s it cold. just take the radiator cap off, and, if it is bubbling, drain all the air from the tanks and see if it stops. If it does it warm, do the same, but leave the cap off, run it at idle or a bit above idle 'till the coolant starts...

400 Cummins Big Cam Oil in Coolant

Drop the pan, pressurize the cooling system with around 17-20 psi and watch where the coolant/water is coming from. if it comes from between the piston and liner, you have pin holes in the liner...poor cooling system maintenance. if it comes from a main bearing, usually #2, it's the oil cooler...

    8.3 CTA Cummins won't start

Did it run ok before the filter change? if so, just run it and it will work the air out. No need to bleed anything.

    Deuce Now has white haze....

White smoke don't necessarily mean failed injectors. White smoke means injection is happening at the wrong time. Make sure it isn't taking air or high restriction. If you have been idling it and not loading it, you could be mistaking white for oil smoke. The multi hates idle/no load operation...

    M915-M920 NTC-400 low power

Just because the manifold pressure is lower than max spec, doesn't mean it has low power. I've seen plenty of trucks making 5, 8 psi less than max spec manifold pressure put out more than the 75% of rated flywheel HP to the ground. Find a dyno and see what it is doing.

Wildlife organization in SoCal needs 5 ton Allison auto trans or replacement truck.

GL? GSA? What's wrong with the trans? It's just an Allison, unless it's holed, it's repairable.

    NHC 250 part identification

It's a check valve. Should be a 2 psi valve, sometimes they were put in the outlet line to prevent drainback if there ewas a pump issue someone couldn't figure out. Normally found in the suction line before a fuel pump. I can find a p/n if you like.

Was there a sticker or pinted on label that said "flywheel side" on the disc?

    LDS427 Head gasket help

Well, believe it or not, in older engines that I have been a part of for the past 25 yrs, the factory said that cracks were OK for reuse as long as they did not extend over the crown of the piston. All of the pistons pictured, IMHO, and if it were mine, would be reusable from that , but, from...

    LDS427 Head gasket help

Cracks between valves or valves and injector bores will allow the seat area to expand and then the seat drops out and, there are coolant passages in the head, The cracks will do nothing but get bigger and then start putting coolant in the cylinders and compression into the cooling system. If it...

    Return fuel line Fittings

McMaster sells the correct fitting for the line, I posted on this years ago. Somewhere around here I have a bag full of them. I'll dig them up. Although they MIGHT have gone with the truck, but I think I have seen them since, who knows. CRS!

    LDS427 Head gasket help

Those pics show a very bad overheat. The pic of the block shows blackened and bubbled paint and the close up of the combustion face shows cracks between the valves....That head, at laest, is junk. What do the pistons look like? Take a pic and post it up.

    LDS427 Head gasket help

Was the engine running good before the gasket blew? If so, put the heads back on. Early head gaskets were prone to blowing due to the type of gasket used, multi part and non compressable sheet. New gaskets will be modern type with the fire rings and all the gromets made into the gasket and a...

    sprag transfer case or not?

You DO realise that the OP was like 4 years ago and the one after G's post was a year and a half? This is a dead thread man.

    NHC 250 head gasket problems...

Sissy! Try an ISX! The NHC is a less than 1 day job. The N14 about 7 hrs for all 3 with brakes. 36 hrs for an ISX with good access. And, BTW, to do 1 head gasket on an NHC, you only need to remove the rocker box on the head you are removing.

    M 923 NHC 250 leaking fuel pump/fuel control shaft

The pump needs to come off and the front cover removed. DON'T try to pull that "cam" thing off. put the set screw back in it. DO NOT move the screws on either side of the "cam". Those 3 items are what set the throttle shaft travel. It needs to be an exact 27 degrees so the ports in the shaft...
