The AC60G's are self regulating with regard to temperature, not voltage. IF you do not do the bypass and you get a loose wire, it will cause an overvoltage and they will burn out. I have seen swollen AC60G's due to over voltage not overtemp.
The self regulating is in case your controler...
1985 M1009. Work done today: Harmonic balancer, new front main seal, new belts.
Work in progress: gauge cluster rebuild. all gauges in dash with Tachometer. Overhead shelf ordered not delivered. 205 transfercase with ORD Magnum box being built. All parts ordered. Magnum box not being...
I ordered the tach and small fuel gauge from LMC today, going to be a while before it gets here due to holidays. I went ahead and finalized my layout though and got some work done on the cluster. I moved the CUCV 24 volt gauge to the top left hole of the cluster. I had to cut out the back but...
did a price check, the LMC shelf listed at $79.95 plus shipping, the jc whitney was $111.00 with free shipping so i guess it depends on where you are. With shipping the LMC unit was right at $100. I ordered one from LMC.
yes, little pricey but I think one would be worth it in order to keep all the crap from being mounted under the dash, thanks jdknech. thats what I was looking for, sounds like it will hold all that I need.
Thanks warthog, I am currious of the LMC quality, some of their items that is an issue. I plan to use it for my cb and scanner plus some extra storage. wondering how much weight it can hold
just wondering if anyone has purchased and installed the overhead shelf from LMC. This unit screws into the sunvisor spots and then you put your sun visors on the bottom side of the shelf. I am not planning on a center console and have been considering this. just checking for others feedback...
Had to update my last post, I have been looking at LMC catalog not online, the online LMC catalog has new tachometers to fit the big hole that are max 5000 rpm range. they are $124. and have a wireing harness availble for $24 (not sure i cant make my one wires.) I did find the small tach...
salt6, looks like the gages are already gone and by the looks of it, it was a gas gauge in the big hole and not a tach. It looks like the factory air is still in place, that is a pretty big score if you can get all of the parts cheap. I have the entire ac system from the burb I parted but at...
after a lot of internet searching, I have not been able to find an 80's style tach to go in the large hole. I have found some 70's styles but they are gasser tachs and the numbers are not the same style. These tachs are also in the $400 price range wich is outrageous. I did find an entire...
I did not have a problem with mine, I had to extend the shift rod and make a new bracket to move the bottom linkage, the part that has all the bends that actually goes into the trans forks. The detents (bumps in the linkage) are not in the column, they are actually in the trans. when the...
My cluster came from an 87 burb that I parted out. There are no wires that come from the back of the speedo in my cluster. I beleive the 87 was the first year of the throtle body injection on the 350 gas motor, however this should not have any effect on the speedometer, my unit had cruise...
If you can get the entire motor, trans and wiring harness out of the trucks for cheap then you can put it in the cucv without a ton of mods, the mid 90's 6.5 engine computers controled the trans also so no extra computer is needed. However, the 6.5's with the pmd issues have some mods needed to...
cucv to burb cluster change
here is what I have traced out on the two panels. the diagram is the plug that goes to the cluster from the wiring harness.
I have a civy dash from an 87 burb, I have been working on the conversion also. What I am considering since I want to keep it 24 volt is to actually remove both gen 1 and 2 lights from the cluster and make new ones in the space next to the 24V gauge. Thus I can use all 4 spots for gauges. I am...
the problem with Auto start systems from what I have found is that in these old trucks there is nothing to tell the system that the engine started and thus there is nothing to tell the system to quit engaging the starter. A remote switch and serries of relays could be assembled fairly easily to...
for those of you putting big tires on a non lifted truck, It will work in most cases but what good is it to have big tires if it wont steer in off camber situations. In order to wheel the truck, most people lift the truck in order to do the cross over steer. minimum 4 inches. If you just want...
I like the new site also, it is easier for me to read. I will see what I can do on my side to change my browsing. I however mainly live in the CUCV section because that is what I have and can afford to work on and MOD the way it fits me. I would love one of the big rigs or something unique...
