try a plumbing and heating store those are used in fuel fired boiler applications I could go to our local hardware store and get one right now for about 10 bucks.
I used to run air tools off a duce straight off the air hose plug in one could do this too with a fmtv or 5 ton, you would be limited to a 1/2 drive impact. For any long period of time it would cost less to run an air compressor. I will likely add a port to my lmtv for quick air. at -20...
a manual trans will want hypoid gear oil like that spirax or your standard 80/90 the gears need the extra sulfur content in the hypoid gear oils. the exception to that rule would be the new transmissions like the nv 4500
the electronic engines tend to be more forgiving about lubricity. how ever the emissions systems are very unforgiving and expensive. I would recommend ulsd only the other thing you have to consider is stability under pressure, the new systems are seeing up to 44k psi and ulsd will crack at...
I prefer to refrain from alcohol unless it is an emergency. alcohol is a solvent and corrosive it will remove lube in your relay valves and cause corrosion.
that's a good write up I still have 2 almost new I wont use them now as the additives in ultra low diesel will foul the atomizer cone in a short time. I have worked on many of them in my time in the Alaska national guard. a good alternative fuel for one would be jet-a as long as you buy a...
petroleum products not only are flammable but will adversely affect the friction surface causing the wheel to lock up, that's why shoes are replaced when oil soaked. I had morons in the sand box telling me to remove all thermostats in vehicles under my control too. I argued the point got...
avoid petroleum products on brake friction surfaces. The shoes have rusted to the drums, this is pretty common, block the wheels so it cant roll, build air pressure release the brakes, and beat on the drums a couple of times with a bfh you will see the shoes pop loose set the brakes remove your...
that's a good call if an axle or planetary was blown than all power would flow to the wheel with the least resistance and mode will lock the center diff in the t-case causing the other end to turn.
lets start from sctatch the downfall of the 3116 is fuel issues, first thing I would do is get fuel up to the lift pump. the lift pump on the 3116 is driven by the accessory drive at the back of the governor. its a little gear pump like a Detroit has, which feeds a common rail in the cylinder...
with the a-1s the prolink will allow you to look at data and operate a few valves for testing but it's limited. its not until you get into the gen 4 and above transmissions that the electronic tools can really let you see inside the trans.
didn't think to mention you might need Allison doc on the newer Allison transmissions in the c-7 lmtv's also my Allison cartrage works well for testing and diagnostics on our 06 Allison 3000 series transmisions in the older kw trucks the newer model transmissions can only self test or you need...
you can by a prolink 9000 from e-bay and use a mpc cartrage to access all systems on an lmtv. used one in Iraq they work well on the 3126 engines. If you have a c-7 model the prolink works well for diagnostics but you will still need cat e-t if you ever change injectors.
sounds like your mode button was activated when in mode you will start in low gear and will only shift to 5 when out of mode you will start in second and shift to high.
