You are comparing passenger cars to heavy trucks even the humvee is over the 1 ton size that starts to separate the classes and the larger vehicles much more discretion and time on the additional safety features before they are mandatory.
Would bring up that all these military trucks met federal government standards when built and that unless they can show that all trucks have to be retrofitted to current standard they are incorrect in failing your truck.
All 939 and 809 5 tons need new rubber fuel lines as soon as possible. And I recommend you change the fittings to the Parker style that slip on and don't need clamps. This is so they can easily be changed later and all you need is a sharp knife and a section of the right hose.
