Yup. I can vouch for that. Running the vent lines on long horizontal stretches, or allowing the vent lines to dip (where sludge can pool) will also cause problems. I'm going to plumb fittings into my fording kit that will allow me to blow-out the vent lines.
Trying to figure out what I want to do about alternators too. Wolverine's setup looks like the cleanest option. Also kinda like the idea of the dual-output (HMMWV?) alternator. Been told that's a bolt-in. Love the DIY-tech though. If you have any measurements you want to share, I can create some...
Me too. I'm going to build a spare-tire mount on the back left-side of the M109 box. Not planning on actually carrying a tire there very often, but want to have the option. It's going to be mounted to the 2" x .120-wall tubular roofrack with tubes that extend downwards to the bottom of the box...
What are you planning on mounting where the spare tire is/was? Might be easier to figure out somewhere else to put that? I'm not running a spare on Mah Deuce, and I'm on singles. Carrying a spare on the trailer, and making brackets so I can chain-up an axle.
Not a great idea if you ever plan on taking this truck offroad. Only takes a minute sitting under the back of the truck with a tape measure to figure out why. Ground clearance and departure angle = no bueno.
Yup. Got a set mounted on Mah Deuce and they look pretty sweet, but I've only driven a few miles on them. They're rated to carry more than double the stock tires, so I'm running singles on modified stock wheels.
Well, Better all depends on what you want to do with it. I built a steel frame to support a large deck and then set a 12ft uhaul box on top of it, so it's an enclosed trailer now. More info and pics here. Flexible on the price. Got a new, smaller trailer, so this one needs to go.
Where did you find those pictures of the car painted into the background? That's exactly how I was planning on painting Mah Deuce. Different setting obviously, but I love the idea of painting a vehicle perfectly into one particular setting.
