Mineral hydraulic oil (petroleum base).
Mineral based oils are the most common and low cost hydraulic fluids. They possess most of the characteristics important for hydraulic oils. The disadvantages of mineral (petroleum) based oils are their low fire resistance (low flash point)...
Welcome to the hobby and a time time to get something working military fashion. (just be careful how long you.. "bake" those engines in an overly hot oven!) sorry couldn't resist. Anyway post up some pictures of the units (helps people to see what you need) and the work in progress on your project.
oe - hdo 10 is the same viscosity as iso 32 which is a parafin based oil. I would use it in my forktruck, not sure about your vehicle. Post back What the hydraulics actually "do" on your truck and i will dig deeper. Some hydraulic equipment manufacturers and plant users substitute iso32 with...
These are are (contrary to oft heard casual opinions expressed0 ) highly sophisticated engine systems. And when attempting to tune and align performance, It is off times (very) necessary to understand how the complete system functions. Studying he relevant T.M. (in this case TM9-2910-226-34...
Welcome to the site hobby and friendships..also events and parades to come, Fitting a turbo is eeezzzi!..my young nephew swapped one off a spare engine we have in 2 hours. I do not recall him having to change the manifold.
We are so waiting to see pictures of these rare barn finds. Post up when you have them in your possession. And try to leave them original "as is" if possible, after some cleaning and servicing.
When the hypercycle multifuel engines run out of "steam" towards the top of the rpm range, the fuel pump needs re setting as per the T.M.s. Which includes the droop screw settings etc,
When installed incorrectly, more friction = more heat = more wear. In adverse conditions the "stuff" is channeled towards the center causing lift = skid. (though better traction at SLOW speed.)
Welcome. As you like the outdoors and adventure bits, You should consider (hopefully) using your potential military vehicle acquisition for ex military events in your pastimes, (as) with the friendships interesting events and support your experience will then be the most rewarding.
Consider an...
Well When you remove the turbo as you stated you are going to, It's just good policy to (at least) examine the seals and gaskets, and replace them IF necessary.
It does indeed...Welcome (back) to the hobby and events to come. (And) So now you can get "active" and post up some nice pictures of your new acquisition.
ABSOLUTELY Follow this advice. You have a diesel lock from fuel leaking into the engine oil from your pre heater or the pump seals. (1st class candidate for an engine "runaway". (destruction iether way)).
Phew..agreed, after reading through about 10 times I just managed to get the general gist of your post. Please write "they are"? Not "there" Otherwise this will be a Fantastic story to post up for us (with a few comma's etc) anyway welcome to the hobby again, and do get some pictures of those...
