My passenger side did it again. The mechanism is a ChiCom replacement from AVTE or Saturn. Try and fix yours 'cause the replacement items go away fast.

The banjo fitting gaskets. Eriks Surplus in San Diego has 'em. A hub nut socket. brake clean, grease, beer :beer:, friends...it's always more fun with others around!
Or too little throttle leakage. If you can't tell if the jakes are killing it, for a test, disconnect the throttle switch. If it still dies, turn the manual override in, then check it again. if it still does it, pay attention, if the RPM dips more than around 50 or so, it can have too much...

:ditto: on what Kenny says. I've done a couple and used this method. It's much safer than trying to balance the pig on a jack. I use a 1 1/2 x 4 steel channel with a 600 lb capacity CM chain hoist.

Just keep this in mind, If you choose to contact the local power company, they will most likely want to see the set up. You will need to have it inspected by your local inspectors and the power company. They MIGHT not let you use an older gen set due to emissions..both noise and exhaust...
