Take him a pic of one restored and SHOW him what the truck is wanted for. Sometimes when a person sees the end result of the restoration, they will part with the un-restored item. Sometimes people can't visualize the finished product.

It is getting tougher and tougher to find non China parts for ANY vehicle. Cummins had a stance a while back that they would not sell to or use a component that was made there, guess that's changed 'cause there sure are alot of components that proudly display "China" cast into them on...
I'd be more concerned with the trans cooling. If you will be pulling, I'd hook the cooler into the trans. P/S doesn't get that hot in on road conditions. 2cents
If the A or VS1-6 is at the pointer and the injector on 1 or 6 isn't all the way down the acc dr. is out of time or it isn't adjusted right. Only way to fix the acc dr is to pull it out and re install it correctly. You can do the overhead with it out of time though.
