several things to think about, most important is the block and crank on the nhc 250 used in the a-1's were quite a bit lighter than the turbo 855's, and may also lacking the oil cooled pistons. If you want more hp than just replace the whole na engine with a bc engine with a turbo all ready...
here's my experience for what its worth. Cast aluminum or magnesium can be tricky to weld when it has had in it, impurity's are the death of it. I have seen vw cases successfully welded which are magnesium, the heat really warped things bad weather you are doing aluminum or magnesium its...
Cold start advance on a db2 pump when the solenoid is energized and it removes pressure from the head through the return line. The solenoid on the side is the throttle is the throttle kicker. Wired in conjunction with the cold advance ,it will keep idle up for a better combustion chamber burn...
With the long run of the after cooler plumbing a shot of starting fluid in the air filter is ok it will be well atomized by the time it gets to the engine, no worries about hydro lock or pre ignition. You just need to know what size shot you need to start it.
yes, they will work even they will work even the same bead angle.Use the bead lock, and remember you are going to need a new o-ring or you will have a leak. As stated earlier use the recommended pressure,on the tires commercial tires especially bf goodrich tires the carcasses fall apart if run low.
in anchorage I have an m-37 and weasel. Just purchased a lmtv I will be converting to be a service truck for out here in the bush, should receive it around the first week of June
I think it can,but all the engines we had in Iraq were 6.5's the namodels had v belts and the turbo models had serpentine belts.Although they were a pia to keep every thing adjusted I liked the redundancy of multiple v belts
every thing should be the same the, 4l80 will need a wire harness if your doner engine has a serpentine belt you have 2 options. One use the system on the engine. or 2 replace all pulleys and water pump to bring it back to v belts, the serpentine belt water pump spins backwards good luck.
those of you with 9 series 5 tons an injection system is the only way to start them the Alaska guard had a ton of them lock up on cold starts. I believe it was from the long intake tubes and too much starting fluid before the engine actually started. I herd more than one race to 2100 cold and...
the engine should warm up just fine with a good thermostat. I manage a fleet of heavy trucks just a couple hundred miles south of the arctic circle and none need winter fronts to stay warm. with an after cooled engine that winter front will raise egt's and cut horse power. A good block heater is...
that's a good idea, I always wondered why they didn't just use a larger thread. My experience has been that dual resister plugs like the ford 7.3 uses will almost never swell up
As I remember right the engine harness runs up the top of the trans to the ess, which I think is different than the steice sensor used in the 3 speed models, and a few wires to the tps Mounted on the side of the injector pump. there aren't all that many wires on the engine there are a few on the...
look at the 2 little ears on the hoop over the back, that is where the squeak is coming from. I used 15 w 40 on mine its all I had at the time, I would think gaa would last longer
There a few nice ones in southern ca up for auction right now not too far from you. The things squeak something terrible going down the road a little lube on the cab pivot points quiets them right down, than all you have to listen to in the cab is the wine of the cat turbo while cruising at 55
The engines them selves are pretty reliable, I like the mechanical engines like 12 v cummins and 3116 cat better because of the simplicity of their injection systems. If I were going electronic it would be c-7 over 3126, the 3126 has a wiring harness in the block I have seen fail in the past...
