Yes and no, the 3116, 3126, and c-7 series are not sleeved engines, there are no liners to be replaced so machine shop work is required to restore the cylinder bores. Some people might try to scratch up the bores and re ring the engines. The bearings can be replaced as long as the crank...
Yes disconnect the drive shafts , disconnect t/c shifter ,and oil cooler lines. I've don it before the top bolts will come out a 1/4 turn at a time but it can be done.
Oilis properly gauged after the truck is started, run long enough to allow the oil cooler to fill than shut back down. There is a time limit to let it sit I don't remember how long it is
with out knowing the source of the vibration I think you would be best to replace the whole engine. If I had to guess you might have a bad balancer, but its only a guess. If you have the room for the parts truck, you wouldn't go wrong getting a spare truck from gov plannet. Just imagine the...
There are 3 in Washington the engines all look real nice, look up gov plannet. A google search for 3116 cat might find some take outs affordable, but I doubt it because cat stuff is so expensive. How did you manage to crack the block
We use those heaters exclusively out here in western Alaska. They work well they transfer enough heat to the oil pan that at -20 there is no need to have a pan heater. The trans will warm up faster as the coolant in the trans cooler is already warm. There is a patch heater one could add to the...
pm me and I will dig up photos I grabbed while deployed off new rigs showing how things were supposed to be done the big problem is gi's and contractors run the cable the easy way down to the trans and it gets melted by the exhaust.
that's an uparmored set should work but the temp gauge will require the right sender when we retrofitted those in Iraq we got the gauge and sender as a set
on the truck I wuld carry a tool roll to 1 inch sane with a socket set a few screw drivers 12 inch cresent wrench and vice grips. with that you can MacGyver about any thing after that you should also have tire changing equipment with the budd gear wrench makes separating bud nuts a lot easier a...
i've done the commercial versions its messy but straight forward. once the pan is off inspect the harness inside the trans, I have seen wires break at the cannon plug going through the case we also had harness failures in Iraq, in combat we just changed them heavy monsters. good luck
all those military gen sets have a starter lock out. when in start the safety switches are bypassed and field flash happens. if you don't hold the switch up until you have oil pressure and the frequency meter pegs than comes back to 60 hz its not going to run right. those of you with utility...
it should handle it, I however would install a battery close to the pump and run a charge wire. you wind up with a lot of line loss on a long run, and low voltage is a killer of those hannay reel motors which are expensive.
I will agree with both above posts low voltage will fry the contacts on the relay by they steering column it will also smoke the starter loose belts will cause charging issues also 2 good 31 series batterys are a must at one time I had a spare 24 starter don't know if I still have it I...
