The steering stabilizer is dripping oil, it needs swapping. Also, the shaft is corroded. I tried to induce DW this morning while going to get the part, it never happened. All other times, the weather has been in the low 60s, this morning it was 38 F. Thicker oil made the damper work? Don't...
My 1986 M1031 has developed the death wobble. It only has 13,000 miles on it now, 9000 when we recovered it in June. All was fine until two weeks ago when it went into severe wheel hop at 35 MPH indicated, about 32 MPH actual.
It only does it going down hill coasting, the slightest bump sets...
Take the air filter off and warm the intake with a propane torch. You will be surprised how much this helps. Yes, have someone start it while you shoot the flame down the intake. Two torches, if required.
Never use starting fluid. Heating the intake air is safe. Even a heat gun can help...
Looks right. They do fail in the contacts. Too bad they are too hard to open up and clean because that is all that goes wrong if they still click. Did one last week. Thinking of keeping a spare in the Contact Truck.
3500 miles since last oil change and it is a quart low. Highway miles without any visible drip. I am certain most of it went through the CDR into the intake.
What is that? A 225+ cubic foot? I have a 125 cubic foot for my argon and I can toss it around easily. I need a rack for up there since it won't fit in vertical. My SECM was an EOD conversion of an ORD so it lacks most racks. It has hose rack.
Nice score, Skinny. Mine came with two sets of NATO cables, a 4 ton and 15 ton 25 foot long chains with hooks on both ends. Plus axle towing adapters for a recovery vehicle and brass pipe/tube fitting set. Also, all of the 300 watt lights, some assorted wire and original paperwork, including...
Replaced the front shock absorbers after a horrible incident last night. Doing 30-35 MPH on a bumpy county road with 45 MPH posted limit, the front axle went into a 2-3 Hz oscillation. Felt like full suspension travel, lasted for 4-5 seconds until the truck stopped with mild braking force.Both...
Great! Have this problem with The Kid's 1009. Will clean all..make that have HIM clean all. Once he gets finished with MKC's driveway cleaning.
The more work he does restoring it, the more he will value it.
The DB2 is the easiest mechanical injection pump to work on. The most common issue is the pressure regulation inside the case, there is a vane pump which creates the pressure needed to charge the plungers. Since the plungers are normally empty by spring pressure, the vane pump provides the...
The vacuum pump is part of the calibrated system that makes the TH400 think it is behind a gasoline engine. The vacuum regulator valve attached to the injection pump has a variable pressure and a set leakdown rate for the variable pressure.
This makes the vacuum vary with throttle position...
The only issue I see with the GV OD is torque converter slip may increase. So while it lowers engine speed, it may not provide all the economy of a 4L80/4L60 or a NV4500 manual transmission swap.
Sounds like the urethane foam is dying. Happens to my 1031 too. I use uncut ammonia (ammonium hydroxide). Well, the 10% stuff sold at janitorial supply houses. Wish I could get the reagent 28% stuff.
I'm seeing this problem too. Lamp checks out, no voltage to brown wire on the 2-pin. But both alternators are functioning fine. Yes, it requires a blip on the throttle to bootstrap the alternator. I'm beginning to think it is the alternator relay not making proper contact.
This is a Curtis Toledo ES-10 compressor. You should be able to find parts online. I believe the company is now FS Curtis. The ES-10 is still being made. I would recommend contacting one of their distributors in Ohio.
That appears to be the cylinder unloader assembly. The system also has a...
