    Radiator repairs.

My experience has been that it is not usually "just that one spot". The deuce radiator is surprisingly complex, with the integrated reservoir. I did spend some $$$ and had a local rad shop check it out, re-core it and when I got it back it was as good as new - and for less $$. Mine had been...

    Uses for Deuces

My Deuce enjoyed being a backdrop for a local rising country music star and his entourage shooting pictures for his new album! :) If they let me have a few that won't be used professionally, I'll post them.

LED headlight - low beam out

Got a set of Grote 24V miltary LED headlights (take-offs) from a member here. Swapped them out, all hunky-dory, everything works. Today I notice that one headlight no longer works on low beam. High beam is fine; all lights up. In other words, the LEDs themselves work. Does that mean that an...

Bobbed M35a2 with 1400x20's on stock wheels?

Options (choose one): Inflate undersized tire until it is as big as the other tires put undersized tire on front, correct sized tires on drive axle and do not engage the front diff put undersized tire on rear, remove rear drive shaft, engage front diff and drive home in a FWD truck

Bobbed M35a2 with 1400x20's on stock wheels?

With these huge tires on, the truck looks like it can only go straight! Hard to believe that the tires fit into the wheel well at the front. Obviously, they do fit, after all. Certainly a tire size where you want your fuel turned up and the brakes well adjusted! :)

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Removed the medium tow bar from the bumper ( http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/72889-feedback-needed-towbar-mount.html ) Installed LED head lights - and am very impressed with them!

    Feedback needed - towbar mount

I looked at it , sitting on the bumper, for a few months and removed it yesterday!

    Rear drive shaft

The axles do not hold back any oil. Oil from the pumpkin can and will seep down to the caps at the end of the hubs and it is irrelevant if an axle is attached to the cap or not. The paper seal or RTV between hub and cap hold the oil in. An intact outer oil seal and sealed keyway in the outer hub...

    Sudden shutdown - cause?

I did. I promoted it to "Master Chief Injection Pump" and gave it two days off. No issues since.

    Diesel in motor oil

The FH can leak at normal fuel pressure (even without the flame heater pump dishing out the extra pressure to open the flame heater nozzle). Fuel gets into the intake and can seep down into crankcase over time. Smoke is probably the first sign. Other than that, HH is probably your culprit...

    Brake lights stay on

Somehow that switch arrangement does not sound right. If you have a split brake system, you have a 1986 or newer truck. Should they have had the hydraulic brake light switch at all, or always the air operated one? A few pictures would help. Military - so anything is possible. An air pack might...

Fuel leak, over top of turbo, what is it?

 I plugged my red high pressure line only. Waiting for an answer on that question.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Bypassed the FDC, plugged the manifold heater fuel line at the pump and did an oil change!

    cork plugs

:) You might be a redneck ..... ....when your deuce has its hub keyways sealed with cigarette butts!

    530B for Me

 OK, that is one ROTTED fuel tank! Can't believe that the rest of the truck looks so good. I wonder if the corrosion has something to do with gasoline (vs the diesel in the multis)?

    "Welded Rears" on a Deuce??

All you can tell from the small pictures in that ad is that the truck appears worth to be checked out more closely. It appears to be clean, the trailer has a new-ish cover on it and the price for either one is on the high side. It would be necessary to find out what the seller did to the truck...

    Am I wasting fuel?

How can you waste fuel when you are driving a Deuce?? :) Here is how I see it: When your engine is under load and you plant the foot down onto the go pedal, you are instructing the injection pump to supply fuel up to the maximum injection quantity per cylinder. The pump will also attempt to...

    Brake Light Switch Upgrade Question

Affirmative. Your truck does not support trailer brakes and has no service or emergency air line. The airpack itself is the same and IMHO you plumbed the switch correctly. Glad to see that it all works. Air switch removes a nasty hydraulic failure point.

Correct Deuce Air Filter - Donaldson P11-7551 doesn't exist?

Resurrecting an old thread - new insights? Resurrecting an old thread. I noticed that the current parts interchange list (sticky) http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/82427-deuce-parts-quick-reference-spreadsheet.html does not (no longer) provide air filter information. What is the current...
