    NC Weigh Station Requirements!

I maintain that many, perhaps most, people want to be compliant and would be, if given a reasonable option to do so. Fact is that many jurisdictions (state or, in Canada, provinces) are de-facto hostile towards historic vehicle registration and usage if said vehicle does not fall into a very...

Do I Need a Wheel Dolly?

If you have a smooth work surface, a pallet jack (pallet cart) works well, too. Take this from the guy who normally has to work in the gravel driveway...

    Hercules valve cover gasket

They are thick rubber gaskets, readily available from many vendors and cheap. I do not recommend RTV unless an emergency. Also, do not over tighten the valve cover bolts because that leads to leaks.

    New Airpak Question

My understanding is that touching the brake pedal while the power bleeder is connected is a big no-no and you risk MC or air pack issues if you do that. Perhaps that is only true if there is air pressure in the truck air tanks.

Rod Ventilated Block in Deuce -NOT- Crank Broke

:funny: I would have it towed to an...ahm...Jeep dealer and have them verify the warranty!

Bringing an M35A2 out of the trees and back on the road

Amazing what a good cleaning does for the transformation from something found in the woods to "hey, it's a Deuce!".

Slow Recovery, No Brakes, Dry Rot Tires

Here is my two cents: If the goal is to get the truck moving and stopping to be able to cover 20 miles to a point from which it can be trailered, I would not go all-out on a brake rebuild in the wild. My first choice would be a heavy 4wd tractor or other Deuce with a tow bar (or a wrecker, of...

deuce smoking like a freight train

I followed this advice - which I believe to be correct insofar as the setting needs to be reduced - and my formerly well-running truck could no longer get out of its own way after that. I believe that an EGT gauge should be used to determine the "right" fuel setting. I adjusted accordingly after...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Important job! Looking at your picture, I cannot but point out how dangerous cinder block is when used to support a (heavy) vehicle. Don't do it. Get yourself some 6x6 and cut them into shorter lengths and make a square pile. Better, still, get four 6 or 8 ton axle stands. I see that you tried...

    Troubleshooting possible T-case issue

My initial thought was a busted U-joint on the long rear driveshaft. That would render the parking brake inop and also stop power transfer to the rear axles. If the transfer case or transmission were busted, locking in the front axle would not do any noticeable good. If you have the front axle...

Earning her keep - Queen Lola brings some gravel home

Funny, that. I was just telling my wife that I "need" more gravel for the driveway....

    Great Deuce Info Site!

Very comprehensive. This is a must-read for any MV/Deuce newbie. I also like the considerations regarding helping/recovering another motorist. It helps to make informed decisions.

Go ahead, sure, make me drool. Thanks a bunch!

Earning her keep - Queen Lola brings some gravel home

Really just an excuse to post a couple of pictures. I learned that my truck is a little lighter than I thought (6250 kg empty/13778 lbs) without troop seats, bows etc. 4 tons of river wash are actually cheap if you can pick it up by the ton (pit charged me 17 bucks a ton loaded). The...

    expensive lights

I have a set of (used) military LED headlights; no way of knowing hours on them, although wiring looks fresh. I took a chance buying them and ended up with one bad one (low beam will work intermittently, randomly). If any of you have a single LED headlight looking for a new home, I can offer...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

WESTACH EGT pyrometer boost gauge I mounted a WESTACH combo gauge EGT/Boost pressure. Westach was great; they even coloured the temperature scale green/yellow/red as per my specs. K-Probe with 1/8 NPT fitting is pre-turbo in the rear half of the common manifold. Boost fitting threaded into the...

M342a2 factory dump truck is now home

Would you mind posting a few pictures of your truck, including a few with the dump bed raised? No specific reason, other than that I am a sucker for M342....

    Totaled Deuce Gets Rebuilt

Just zip tie one headlight in place...it looks decidedly evil in its current configuration! Consider driving it through town, wearing a vampire or zombie outfit! Nice to see that you got it back to being drive-able. What a ton of work.

    m35a3 cover?

Yes, you are right - I keep forgetting that my truck is "different" in that regard. The anchor point for the bars is in a different location, so it works for me.
