What do you mean by switch? The hand control should not be used at all. Whats different tuning? Whats a govenor computer? Look at the book, so you can use the right names for things, and we dont get mixed up. Or pictures.
You do not have to pull the CIM out, or yet anyway. But check every cable, plug and connection in the control cube. If you could talk to a CECOM Rep, thats the first thing he would have you do.
I don't seem to remember brass caps. Or not in the old days. Is this an A2 or A3? The A2 had a non brass cap. And when I looked up the cap tech data, it said ANY acceptable material. I seem to remember steel.

Any time you have a failure on an 805B or 806B you should first look at, re-seat and check again, every cable in the control cube. This is a leading cause for most problems on this POS.
That bump on the head might have something to do with it too. He suffered from KRS before sitting under the cab of his truck, and NOW, its simply out of control.
I have seen this failure before. Twice. Don't know what caused it, but first saw it in 2005(?) and at the time, no one could find wire #100E10 on the schematics, because it wasn't there! Then in 2007(?) I found a gen set at Reset, that had been taken apart, and put back together by different...

On the burnt wire in the second picture, the wire number is 100E10. That means its a 10 Gage wire. My mistake. The wire size is always written at the end of the wire number.
