6.2 dies when you let off throttle

Chemical cleaning without removal of the injection pump is possible. But even if that fails, the problem is in the governor linkage, not the governor's flyweights. This is easily accessed without pulling the injection pump. Remove the governor cover on the top (item 23 in the PDF below) and...

6.2 dies when you let off throttle

Engine speed in a diesel is solely controlled by injected quantity. This is a COMMON problem of the governor cutting fuel back completely and not releasing the shut-off when RPM drops. All diesels have governors, otherwise they would not idle. The governor in this injection pump determines...

    Vaccuum modulator adjustments/ hose replacement?

There are a few different sizes from the vacuum pump to the bottom fitting. Also a tee and cap. Check these carefully, there must be at least 18" Hg at the modulator. Any leak will be a problem. I would pull the vacuum lines off and get exact replacements from your local auto parts...

putting jet fuel, motor oil, kerosine, vegi oil, and biodiesel in your cucv gas tank

The injection pump is lubricated by the fuel. Kerosene/jet A/ JP8 are hard on the wear areas. There was a report by the Southwest Research Institute's Belvoir Fuel Research Division with regards to DB2 injection pump failures on JP8. I would run D2 with 1:128 TC-W3 two-stroke outboard oil...

6.2 dies when you let off throttle

This is the injection pump. All diesel injection pumps have a governor, otherwise idle would be impossible, the accelerator changes the governed RPM and most have considerable droop. What happens when you let off the accelerator is the governor shuts off all fuel since the engine RPM is far...

fuse for running light keeps blowing

Clean the fuse contacts in the fuse block. Resistance here causes the blades of the fuse to heat which increases the resistance in the fuse element which lowers its current capacity. Most fuse bodies are clear/translucent to see how the fuse failed, normal overloads break in a small spot near...

What are the percs of an m1008 vs an m1028?

The 1028/1031s have Dana 60s, just with the limited slip carrier. Running a limited slip up front can make for interesting handling in 4WD. The average Joe/Grunt/Flyboy driver may not understand the quirks so they were left out of the basic models. Although I never heard of special training...

Lufkin to Camp Wood is quite a hike :driver:.

Moss covered M1009 followed me home.

Interesting. If it has alternators, I know someone who might need a pair. Of course that would mean I would have to overhaul bothaua. Why do I keep getting into restoration projects?

Moss covered M1009 followed me home.

If you find something that removes lichen without having to scrub, let us know. My 1031 SECM has a good bit between the cab and contact box.

    Hawker 6TAGM battery

$370 ? Install a pair of group 31s in it, take the $540 you saved and buy a quarter ounce of gold. When the group 31s need replacing, the gold will have enough value to easily replace the batteries with another pair of group 31s. AGMs may not have the cranking current you need. They CLAIM to...

    Fuel question

It settles out of diesel. It may form a scum with biodiesel so you would be best served to mix 1/2% two stroke oil into the diesel once decanted off the DEF. The rest will be caught by the filters so drain them often into a clear jar to see if there is contamination.

HELP wiring diagrams in TMs gone

Don't fret, TM structure is all descriptive. The first number is branch, for automotive that would be 9. Then the second sequence is Federal Supply Class number, 4 digits. Then is the item number, 3 digits. Finally, there is the level, -10 is operator, -20 is unit maintenance, -30 is direct...

    Shackle Working Load Limit

The spread of cosmetic off-road features contributed to this question. While the frame extensions are square tubes, the shackles are up to the task. Same pin diameter as 2-1/2 ton series, probably because of the tubular extensions. This gives greater bearing area with the reduction from...

    Water injection in the 6.2?

That is a pure scam. Dihydrogen monoxide is just another name for WATER. Yes, water WILL decrease combustion temperature which means you can turn up the fueling rate which will increase power. Most systems base the injection on the manifold pressure, without turbocharging, you would have to...

    Water injection in the 6.2?

Is a bad idea. As is any additional fuel. Propane must be carefully metered IF you can control combustion temperature because its autoignition temperature is low enough there can be preignition even with injected quantity less than the lower flammability limit. Methane is far better but...

    nv4500 swap

The one question I still have after reading all the NV4500 swap threads is if the PTO governor will still function in the M1031 SECM. The transfer case neutral switch would be easy to adjust, the transmission drive switch could be a bit more of a challenge.

    water leaking

Water can come in the passenger foot well vent because the internal gutter isn't long enough. Take the plastic cover with the vent door off and make an extension for the gutter from thin aluminum flashing. Glue it in place with contact cement. Test with the plastic cover off.

    24v CUCV Starter

Either the solenoid on the starter or the brushes aren't making contact. A problem you can fix at home. But if the commutator shucked a pad, that is a bit more.

    CUCV Throttle Vacuum Valve Adjustment

Got the new valve installed. Adjusted it to "that looks about right" before hooking the vacuum pump and gauge to it. Pulled the vacuum and BAM!, 8" Hg on the first attempt with my home made wood block. Buttoned it up and took it for a test spin, like new shifting. This should help the PTO...
