Looks good! The GPM that you need should be about 10. Check the Grainger catalog for info on motors, they ave "high torque" models that may be more comfy with the load.
One day I'll have a dedicated motor/pump for the HIAB, never liked to run the multifuel at low rpms (1,000-1,500) for hours and...
Thanks for the images! A lot of work to mount it midships, for sure. If you were to do it again, would you place it behind the bed (as originally intended)?
The high compression ratio makes the engine easy to start in cold weather without starting aids...the hypecycle (slow combustion) rate makes it burn heavier fuel more completely....maybe David Doyle can dig up some info on the "newer" multifuels, which would be more apropo, since few of us have...
You will get to love it, starts easy, runs quiet and burns anything you care to put in the fuel tank! It's a military engine and expected to perform at a moment's notice under the most severe conditions, not made to run coast to coast day in and day out.
Yes, the 8x8, they didn't have them, from what I have seen from vintage pictures except for prototypes, so I have to improvise by attaching them to the light pods.
I'll tell him, he is good at welding...
Worked on the mudflap hangers with welding help from my son Adrian, who recently returned from CA.
The mudflaps themselves will be removable for off-road driving when all is finished.
After reading the "torque rod" posts, I took a look at the 8x8 set-up and noticed some differences.
FWIW, one end is mounted with two bolts, one on each side and the other end similarly to the deuce, with the ball and bushing. There is a difference in that the bushing is secured by a bolt and...
My 30 psi tires (in the sun) will drop to about 28 at night, don't think you have a warm/cool issue. If all air down the same way, whatever it is, you did the same to all of them. :-)
Sample the fuel from the tank to make sure there is no water present. Water settles to the bottom, so open the drain plug for this.
The primary fuel filter is also a water separator, so it serves an important function. The micron rating of the filter should be 40.
If the fuel is not the problem...
Distance driven could present some problems with some running in a convoy, for example. It would also keep some out of competition, simply by living too close to the event with highly qualified vehicles and lastly, how will the distance be measured?
To complete gimpy's suggestion, remove fuel cut-off assembly cover on the IP and make sure that the mechanism moves freely. It is spring loaded and must return to starting position when the shut-off handle is pushed in.
Know what you mean, just look at the dates of the above postings and you'll see me doing the same. :-)
Still haven't gotten into the coolant heater after I left it back in October...
